Cooper.
He USUALLY makes mistakes EVERY GAME.
How in hell you take Chacon the way he is pitching and instead uses Valverde who is really struggling?
We don't have a manager in Houston.

Now that makes sense. I think probably the way Valverde is pitching leave in Chacon. The problem is that Valverde had been showing little signs of improvement lately. I think that he should lose the closer position until he shows up to pitch. This was the last straw.

Oh for the good old days when they would let a great starter close out the game. I have to admit, the common wisdom these days is getting stupid.

Chacon in the 8th made some very good pitches, I can't believe he did not go and pitch in the 9th.

But I think the reason is that the common wisdom these days is to not overstress the starter and close with the closer. I think Cooper wanted to show the rest of the team that for the time being they are without a closer. Hopefully Valverde has lost that position now which only works when you have a good one. Houston hasn't since Lidge was pitching well. I think a closer should have to prove that he is a closer before he is given the position. Not given the position until he proves he can't pitch.

Cooper needed to win this game, now we are one of worse teams in baseball with a 5 and 9 record.
This game was very important.
Now we have Oswalt pitching tomorrow, meaning, 4 more homers for the Phillies tomorrow.
So far what i've seen about Cooper is, he lets pitcher continue to pitch when they are sucking (Valverde in the 9th) and takes pitchers early when they are pitching good.
Awful manager.

If you watch Valverde's career, he has 1 good year, 1 bad year.
This is suppose to be a bad year for him and so far he is right on the record.

i agree with iowa..take his ass out...garner did too much coaching..why would you take a guy out that has given up only 4 hits over 8 innings? it doesnt make sense and never has..that relief pitcher thing is a joke at the very least..bring in a setup guy, then a closer..its all BS and has been for years....if a guy sucks, take him out otehr than that the mgr needs to stay in the fckn dugout

Cooper blew the game.......plain and simple. Valverde has been oitching worse than Lidge did last year. Chacon had a shutout and Cooper let Valverde blow the win for Chacon and the Astros. Cooper is a dumbass who got the job because he's black and came cheap. Draytie didn't want to have to pay for a good manager like Joe Torre.

Now we have Oswalt pitching tomorrow, meaning, 4 more homers for the Phillies tomorrow. That is a mistake. We have another pitcher who has been decent, Sampson, and we put in someone who has been getting bombed every 5 days. Give him another day off and put in Sampson. We are so worried these days about hurting our pitchers arms. We seem more worried about saving the pride of an ace who is pitching like a worthless minor leaguer.

I don't like Cooper.
Right now i take Dierker over Cooper anyday.
Dierker made many, many mistakes, but he was good with the pitchers, Cooper has NO IDEA what he is doing outhere.

Cooper knows what he is doing. From what I've seen, he's doing everything exactly by the book. That isn't necessarily a good thing, but it is very obvious.
