I just want to encourage people to come in here and post about baseball. We knew that Houston wasn't going to have a great team this year and most of would have been surprised if they could compete at all. Therefore 0 and 6 is a good development because it means that Drayton could finally have a really embarrassing team which forces his hand. He will not be able to say, oh a few little tweaks and I will get this club going using marketable old players. I actually am thrilled at this development because it may force Drayton to finally admit he doesn't know sh*t and should stay out of baseball. If he wants to be owner, fine, but leave the decision making to those that understand baseball.

The Astros may have dropped six but it appears Drayton dropped a deuce on the fans.

At least this gives me some hope that ten years down the road when I am older and greyer, or even dead, they may produce a winner.

I am hoping they can beat their 1983 suck record of 0-9. I see no reason that they shouldn't. J.R. Towles is at .062 ba. There should be somewhere further down the batting lineup that they could put him. Somewhere between hell and oblivion.

Are you kidding??? He is only 2 hits behind the 19 million $$$$ man....That ought to bat him leadoff shouldnt it?.. Maybe Drayty ought to ask Pam Gardner.

Obviously JR Towles could get hot and ingratiate himself to all of us. That could even happen to the 19 million dollar man. Maybe we could get that pitcher that could hit but couldn't pitch to come back and play 1b or some other position that isn't hitting. What was his name? Be sure to vote. I don't want to be the only one to have a shot at that multi-million dollar prize. Or did the amount of that prize drop with the housing market?

I want to congratulate the Astros for making the Nationals look like a good team. The only way to get a decent team in Houston is for fans to stay away in droves and hit Draytie in the only thing he cares about.......his bank account. I hope this rag-tag bunch of crap loses 100 games and Draytie has to sell the team. That is the only way we get a good team on the field. This old fool has no intentions of spending money to improve the Astros. The more he loses, the more he slices the payroll.

I don't really care about slicing the payroll at this point. I think we ought to keep fairly young players that will play. Otherwise we ought to be dealing. No use even keeping a .500 team that is mediocre for years to come. They should be thinking about the future, this year is in the garbage already. There is no way that this team can compete with a decent team. You can't have a catcher that hits like Towles and expect to compete. This guy consistantly hits below .100.

For years, the Astros have ignored the fact that they got no offense from the catching position. When they had an offense......Biggio, Bagwell, Everett, Berkman, Alou, etc.......they could afford to ignore it because Ausmus was a good defensive catcher, could throw, and handle a pitching staff. Now, they can't afford a no-hit pair of catchers like Towles and Quintero. Quintero should have been released a long time ago. He can't hit and is slower than Carlos Lee.

I saw a guy with a "J.R. Towles - Crosby Proud" sticker on his truck the other day. I asked him how he could have that on his truck seeing as Towles ws sucking. He told me that "Towles is the best player ever to come out of Crosby High." I told him that Towles was the ONLY player to come out of Crosby and that I have seen Little Leaguer's play harder than J.R.". he got all whiny and I just laughed at him and told him that "J.R. Should still be playing HS ball." The people of Crosby son't have a lot to be proud of, do they?

That is a sad story about Crosby. If I were them I wouldn't put any undo pressure on Towles until he actually shows that he can hit in the major leagues. You can be proud that he got that far, but you need to try to support him in any way to get his hitting going. Bumper stickers probably won't do that. It may feel like a lot of pressure to have the whole pride of your home town on your shoulders. They would do more good by telling him he sucked. Anyway Ausmus was an all-star hitter compared to Towles.

Who would have thought Bud Norris would put together such an impressive start after his opening start? We knew he was capable of it. It took some guts to take him out of the game because we were ahead 2-1 when they did that. That ends the losing streak.

The Cards would have thought it. He is something like 4-0 against the Cards and because of Lee's drop, the Cards were able to score the first run off Norris in their last 19 innings against him.
Note to Mills.....next time we play the Cards, be sure Norris has a start against them.
