When they said that Jeff Bagwell was returning, they never said anything about being hitting coach. I think it was probably a move that is overdue, but I wonder if Bagwell is the one to get the job done. I am sure he will work hard at it. I wish him the best success. Our hitting sure needs help.

He has got a tough road to walk trying to get this bunch to score runs. Today we had three hits, two by Sanchez who isn't supposed to be a good hitter. This was an inauspicious way to start the second half of the season, getting blown out two out of three games by the worst hitting team in the National league and shut out the second time. It doesn't look like we are getting much better.

Ted Williams couldnt teach the Rangers to hit when he was there, and if Ted Williams couldnt teach folks to hit, I sure dont expect anythingfrom Bagwell.
Maybe he could teach em to get by taking steroids.

What would happen if this management decided to base their offense on something other than power and homeruns and instead focused on guys that could get on base and run the bases? I have nothing against homeruns, it is just that I think the league has gotten too worried about homeruns and many of them may be overlooking other factors. Remember what a good baserunner Bagwell was? He was a complete player except when it came to getting on base with a really good pitcher. He didn't often come through in a tough situation which is probably normal.

When you have a bunch of guys who either aren't any good or are too lazy to give a damn, it doesn't matter who they have for hitting coach. I wish Bagwell luck trying to get anything out of this bunch of losers.

these team is awful, you need guys to take walks, that helps in so many ways, more pitches for the starter, meaning, middle relieve in games instead of starter pitching 7 and 8 innings and the 8 and 9 guy pitching every night.
Awful team, awful.
ONe good thing, Castro is suppose to be a patient hitter, we need 4 more like that.

Johnson had a good night tonight. Berkman has always been a patient hitter. Bourn seems to understand his hitting role pretty well. Is it possible we are going to luck out with this Sanchez? He has been doing pretty well. Pence will never take walks. Neither will Lee. We need to send Lee somewhere else. Pence hits like Lee in many ways and we don't need too many of those kinds of hitters. I really think we are bad. I don't want to jinx them saying they are good.

at the beginning, we had a c, 3b, ss, lf and rf who would not take a walk.
Berkman, yes, Keppinger, more or less, Bourn, ok

Biggio help his low walk percentage by figuring out how to get beaned. That is also an option. We have not been getting beaned much this year. Wear those arm pads like Biggio and be slow getting out of the way of pitches.

In Biggio's best years, he had found the "Holy Grail" of baseball.....what every player dreamed of......a way to steal first base.
If for only that he deserves to be in the Hall of fame.

He was quite a guy. You can't even call it cheating. You have to call it something else like, he was expressing himself.

There are no potential Biggio's on the team we have now. I like Johnson, Castro, Bourn, and Pence. We need more like them and we have to develop some pitching. Our farm system sucks.

JB...I think you perfectly summed it up
A 3 million $ computer analysis could not be more precise!

I think they have some other players which have shown some promise. I am not to hard down on this Ed Wade. I think he came into a difficult situation and has had to rebuild. I think as long as Drayton stays out of his hair for financial reasons he might do alright. I really thought at the beginning of the year that we were going to be worse than we are but he has come up with some fairly decent people to fill in for injuries. Wright isn't one of them. We still suck but there is something interesting going on worth following.
