Burke and especially Qualls have trade value.
Why on earth would you DFA them? Lane... who cares.

trade value? Like what? two cases of crackerjacks and a case of hot dog buns? who is in hot pursuit of a non closer with 5 blown saves? The value of both of them together is about 28.00...after the above concession items are marked up the astros may be able to turn a profit of that 28.00 into 280.00..The astros are getting a deal.. trust me...

I understood you the 1st time. But Qualls has great stuff and most teams would give him a shot. Relievers go thru this. Some years they are bad and others they are great.
You think what you want, but a ton of teams would take him in a heartbeat if made available.
You dont just DFA young pitchers who are cheap and under team control.

no you dont...You certainly dont drop them if their name is papelbon, rivera, hoffman or any number of worthy relief pitchers..if their name is qualls i would dump him for a on deck doughnut....

Then thats why you arent the GM of a MLB team.
Everything is one extreme or the other with you.
There are more pitchers like Qualls than there are like Rivera, Hoffman or Papelbon. Should they all be DFA'd by their respective teams???
I cant believe you actually think you understand how the game works.

How long and how many different pitching coaches have been trying to make Chad Qualls into a more consistent pitcher? I certainly can't remember and really am not that interested.
The fact is, that Chad Qualls hasn't the mental capacity nor the talent to be a consistently good relief pitcher. It's been multiple years now that the story of Qualls problems has been his mechanics. How many years does it take to finally sink in before Qualls masters his so-called mechanics problem? Never. Chad Qualls has had plenty of time to show he can pitch consistently as a late reliever in the big leagues. He ain't getting any better. Let Qualls fill one of the permanent roster spots at Round Rock or Corpus Christi.

James, you forgot to mention that Qualls appears to be too lazy to work on his mechanics and attempt to solve his problem. It doesn't matter who he has for a pitching coach as long as he has this attitude. I agree with your suggestion of letting him stay in RR until he decides to go to work.

somebody above hit the nail on the head(i knew you wouldnt understand btw) he is too un reliable as is lidge..AB, i watch these games and theres no way in the world i would bet a must win game on either.....Guys dont go to chit like lidge and then come back..his stats are very deceiving right now...the bottom will drop out again.....I would certainly trade him if the situation presented itself....I dont think i would trade lidge for just anybody but qualls is a different story...Relievers records are often misleading and thats why i said what i did about lidge..The guy comes in with 2 guys on base and he gives up a HR he gets credit for only 1 run..The other poor pitcher has those tacked to his record
relief pitchers come in to face 1 batter and have a great chance at either a win or a save...wow! it doesnt matter that the starter may have just pitched 8 innings of 1 run ball..Relievers often times look like the hero and they arent..No, i put zero stock in most of these guys...They are in fact a dime a dozen...The ones the astros have are even worse
