Peavy's not been in the league long enough to be a FA - hence his salary is low. Give him a couple years and you'll see a big difference in his salary.

Agreed. Baseball makes the players actually EARN the big money unlike the NBA and NFL who hand it to them before they ever play a regular season game. The boy in Seattle comes to mind. Sonics gave him a 2 year GUARANTEED salary of some 30 or 40 mil and he has knee surgery BEFORE training camp begins. Unbelievable!
