All of these brave men and women who serve our country and defend our freedom deserve all the gratitude and support that we can give them. Thank him for me, too, T-bone.

I would like to send out a salute to my son PCF Chris Anderson and all of his Battle Buddies serving in the 41st Combat Engineers of the 1st Engineers Batallion - "The Big Red One" serving in "The Sand Box" at Camp Speicher 30 miles northwest of Baghdad. My son has already earned his Combat Medal and a Purple Heart. Please keep all of our men and women serving in combat in the middle east in your prayers.
I also want to ask to keep "CrashTest's" son also in your prayers who is currently serving in Afghanistan.

My nephew did 2 tours in Sadr City and is out of the army now. I'm happy he made it out in 1 piece.
Best wishes and thanks to anyone who has a loved one in the Military

James, I want to personally thank your son for the sacrifice he has given for our country. I want to thank you and all of your family for the sacrifice that you have given also. I was so thankful that Jeremy wasn't injured in either tour. I know what my family went through while he was over there. I can't imagine what it was like to get that phone call that Chris had been hurt. I am just thankful that he is okay. I know that it is not just the person in the military that is sacrificing and hurting we are too. I will keep Chris and all of our men and women in my prayers.

That means a lot to my wife and I. The prayers and supplications sent forth by concerned believers and americans as you and many others out there is extremely important and helps us to carry on daily with that God sent "peace that passes all understanding" knowing that so many of you truly care. Now having a son in combat certainly helped us to understand and have a tremendous amount of respect for the sacrifices made by family members and soldiers in the past who fought for our country in Vietnam, Korea, WWII and WWI and for our soldiers in uniform everywhere.

I found this picture of my son taken by a reporter from Oregon. The South Carolina National Guard was in the process of replacing the Oregon National Guard at Camp Phoenix: www.dailyastorian.info/main.asp?SectionID=2&SubSectionID=900&ArticleID=41690&TM=11655.33Here is a YouTube of his squad on patrol. It looks like they are making a difference. Since that time, they have been redeployed. He can't say where, except that "it's where the action is". When he calls, I give him the Patton line: "Well, at least you won't have to tell your grandkids, 'I shoveled sh!t in Louisiana' [No, I waded through it in Afghanistan (there are no sewers in Kabul)]. www.youtube.com/watch?v=LakP261OVowJames, God bless your son, Chris. I pray daily for his safe return as well as for the sons and daughters we so cherish. We worry so much about them. True, war is hell, but I sense that they have answered their calling and wouldn't have it any other way. We have been blessed, haven't we, James. PS. The Purple Heart part just sank in. Please tell me Chris is ok. ~Crash

Last Memorial Day, we visited my uncle's grave at Arlington. He died 8/15/43. He was a crewman on a C-47 and was shot down over Tsili Tsili, New Guinea by a Japanese squadron. I found this poignant marker a few rows in back of his.
