www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/nl/astros/notes.htmIn response to a statement made by Drayton McLane, Randy Hendricks had this to say.. "I actually proposed to the Astros late in the season last year that they make a proposal for the '07 season so that if Roger decided to play that we would have something knocked out and it might be automatic. I was told that the problem with that would be that the owner would react and say if they did that they wouldn't have any money to sign any free agents and that they needed hitters so, 'Could I please wait and let that all play out.'" — RHP Roger Clemens' agent, Randy Hendricks, in response to McLane's claim that the Astros were tired of Clemens leaving them "high and dry."

IMO, Drayton liked only having to pay Clemens for half a season. That's why he balked at offering to let Clemens pitch for 4 months and offered only 3.

Again, Drayton ran out of time.

With the record the Astros had when Clemens signed with the Yankees, you would have thought Drayton would have wanted 4 months of Clemens instead of 3.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Clemens tail off in Sept. or the playoffs.

It may be just me but Clemens looks a little chunkier than he was last year at this time.
