so pence swings at the first pitch with Bourn on first. That was silly for a 2-hole hitter

Where's Matsui/Towles? And yeah, it's just one AB, but I didn't like what I saw from Pence there. It is a tough one, you want your best hitters to get more AB's, but with a leadoff hitter with speed you want someone who's willing to be patient hitting #2.

Thanks, I felt like I was sitting at a vast array console searching for signals from deep space.

Matsui is recovering from anal fissure surgery out 2 weeks. I guess Ausmus is getting Biggio treatment. Maybe Towles hammy is still sore versus personal caddy-catcher in a low run environment.

Have we had a groundball out yet?

Yeah this board's been pretty dead for a while. Forgot about the Matsui thing, but I don't think there's a huge dropoff when you go to Loretta. I think my heart sunk when I saw Ausmus though.

You'd have thought OD might have brought a few more out. Looks like we're going to get shutout. Good pitching beats good hitting....

Oswalt continues to allow way too many hits per game.
Oswalt is just not the dominating pitcher HE WAS.
And yes, i was right, Peavy is BETTER than Oswalt.

Ausmus will probably catch Oswalt most of the time. From where I sit, it's a new year with a new cast of characters but mainly the same old crap we saw last year. No hitting from the complainer who plays first base.

Oswalt continues to allow way too many hits per game. Oswalt is just not the dominating pitcher HE WAS. And yes, i was right, Peavy is BETTER than Oswalt. I believe that is true. A good measure of decreasing dominance is giving up more hits and getting less Ks. Roy's pitch counts have seemed to balloon in the early innings too.
