in baseball 1. Rotation is awful, even Oswalt is not great anymore, actually, he is becoming HITTABLE in the past 2 or 3 years. Actually, he is very inconsistent, he will have a LOT OF BAD games, and some good games at the end to make the season look better. 2. The bullpen is awful. Brocail is NOT a set up men in any good team. Actually, he should be a 6 inning guy, a Russ Springer type of pitcher. Villareal, same, not a 7 inning guy, a 6 inning guy. Remember, this guy is so average that ONLY cost us Josh Anderson to get him, and believe me, Atlanta knows baseball. Wright, well, Rule 5 guy, not much outhere also. Geary, well, average pitcher. Borkowski, he sucks and Mohler well, mop up guy. Only good reliever is Valverde. 3. We have some BUTCHERS ON THE FIELD also. Lee at LF is a BUTCHER. Only good thing about this team is offense but, Pence hitting 2nd is a joke, Berkman is no leader but we should score runs, but can we score 10 runs per game to have a chance? / I don't think so, this team will lose 90 games this year. Problem, this team will lose 90 games with a OLD TEAM. This organization is in deep sh*t for the next 5 years.

Unless, we trade Oswalt, Berkman, Lee and Tejada and get young guys to develop.

BArron, to lose with a young team is not bad, to lose with an old team is awful. We need to get good prospects (we don't have that in our organization).
Lets trade Oswalt to the Yankees for Hughes, Jesus Montero and another prospect. Trade Lee to Seattle for Tillman, Balentien and another prospect, maybe Tuissasoppo.
Hughes and Tillman are number 1 type of pitchers for the future. Montero is catcher but could end up at 1b because he is a great hitter. You could also trade Berkman to a team in need of hitting and great minor league system.
Thing is, we have no prospects in our minors so we have to do SOMETHING.
I think Oswalt needs to be traded because another season with a 1.33 whip is going to be impossible to get great value for him.

I think if the Astros tried to trade Oswalt today, everyone would assume he was damaged goods. He has to have a few good games for us to get value for him.

vega... LOL..wtf? i have to agree with JB...we are 2 starts into the season for oswalt...Trade him for 2 guys who have done what? I can assure you the yankees would trade hughes and montero for him within the hour ...oswalt is like one of the best 4 or 5 pitchers in baseball..he is a proven commodity..Theres not 1 single team in baseball that wouldnt trade their top prospects for him. Guaranteed.... a perfect example of this kind of deal is the maybin/ miller for cabrera/willis thing....cabrera willis are proven every day big leaguers and one of the 2 isa stud...what have miller and maybin done? I absolutely hate lance berkman but im also not stupid..why would you trade a guy who could put togetehr a .300/35/100 season for some guy who may never make the big leagues? This is stupid

nOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, last year he had a whip HIGHER than Wandy. Why would you make that trade? ? Hmmmm, money and we have a very weak farm system. Right now, with what we have we are going nowhere. We need improvement in rotation and bullpen. We have no money to go after 2 or 3 big free agents, so we need to free cap space and improve on our minor leagues. Right now we have a good young catcher and centerfielder. We still need a future SS for us. We don't have a 3b in the majors or in the minors. Right now what we have is (young I mean) a catcher, centerfielder and rightfielder. Pitching, well, ONLY Wandy and Backe, I still see Sampson as a reliable SPOT starter. Bullpen, only Valverde, nothing else. So, how can Oswalt help us now and in the future? / Bringing us prospect, real good prospects. 3 years ago we all had to say, Oswalt, top 5 starter, now, top what? ?? Santana, Peavy, Webb, Beckett, Halladay, Verlander, Sabathia, Carmona, Bedard, Felix Hernandez, Lackey, Hamels, Smoltz, AJ Burnett if he stays healthy, Zambrano, Sheets if he stays healthy, Snell, Lowe, Penny, Cain, Lincecum, Wang, Hughes, Harang and Shields. That is 25 pitchers and we can go with rookies i would take right now over Oswalt for the long run, example, Cueto. Oswalt is not the same pitcher, he is becoming a Bronson Arroyo instead of a Peavy, UNFORTUNATELY.
