If this article is true it looks like Jason Jennings will become a one year rental and all the Astros will have to show for it is two of their top minor league pitchers gone and this stiff developing callouses on his rectum sitting on the bench on the DL most of the first half of the season pondering who he and his agent can extort $12 million from for a new contract next year. The article states that the Astros won't pay Jennings that kind of money away. I never thought trading away top minor league prospect pitchers for pitchers whom scouts claim was on the verge of breaking down was a good idea anyway. The Astros continue giving away their future for stiffs not worth a bucket of warm spit. Besides, if it were your money would you be willing to bet $12 million guaranteed dollars to a pitcher who has not even shown that he is capable of staying healthy for a full season yet? Talk about a Catch-22 that Purpura and McLane walked into. But, what can you do when you have such willing victims as Purpura willing to stake the future on pitchers who are only average at best and throw away your top prospects for them? Jennings wasn't exactly another Tom Seaver. He wasn't WORTH a top prospect in the first place. Here's the link if anyone's interested in reading the obvious: Astros screwed again

I am willing to wait and see. Players get hurt. It happens.
That 3.13 ERA and 1.13 WHIP sure look pretty good.
I dont care what Drayton pays for players, thats none of my business.
I think alot of you are doing exactly what you are accusing the Astros of doing, giving up on players to early.
Hirsh and Bucholz havent proven they were going to be worth a sh*t. Hell, if they had their numbers on this Astros team right right now you guys would be screaming to send them back to AAA that they suck.

How the hell do you know how I would be reacting otherwise? You don't. So don't try to read into my mind how I am to be perceived to react to some future hypothetical. Calm down. It's not that damn important.

The bottom line is that the 3.13 ERA and 1.13 WHIP ...DON'T DO US ANY GOOD FROM THE DL.

I cant find it anywhere where his velocity was at 84 or a concern last season.
If the Rockies knew he was damaged goods the trade could ve voided.

I wouldn't have traded Hirsch straight up for Jennings.

If Jennings thinks he's worth anywhere close to $12 million a year, he's nuts.
