I am glad we finally got over that hump. I hope Backe can stay healthy this year, it took 105 pitches for him to get through 5 scoreless innings.

Im happy that Backe is healthy too. It wasn't a done deal that he'd eve pitch worth a damn again.

That's not to say that the starters haven't earned a win though. Sadly enough, the only Astros starter that hasn't pitched well enough for a win would be Roy-O.

Oswalt is making Woody Williams look like a Cy Young candidate.

lol, thats true.
Wandy continues to pitch good baseball.
IF, and that is a BIG IF, IF oswalt pitches as a number 1 starter and we can find another reliever (Nieve?) this team can compete.
We would have: 1. Oswalt (number 1? well, no, but lets hope he becomes one) 2. ? 3. Wandy (pitching like a good number 3 guy) 4. Backe (pitching like a good number 4 guy) 5. Chacon (pitching like a good number 5 guy)
Sampson to the bullpen
This team is one pitcher and 1 reliever away of becoming a very good team.
Can Sampson be the guy for half the season and then we sign Clemens?
Can Nieve become the 8th or 7th inning guy?
I don't trust Geary nor Villareal on doing that.
I like Blum over wigginton.
I like what Coop did today, Erstad over Pence.

Is a long season, but he allows way too many walks and usually don't go deep into games, thats why i don't see him as a number 2 and more as a GOOD number 4.

Don't expect Clemens to sign unless he thinks there is a chance the Astros can make the playoffs.

I think the Astros have a chance IF Oswalt pitches like a number 1 and we can find ONE more reliever that can pitch the 7th or 8th inning.

We had the guy who could pitch the 7th or 8th and Purpura traded him for Wigginton.

Vega...I agree that Purp was a horrible GM....but he is a genius compared to Spec richardson....he was the worst GM in history of all sports...and not just baseball...
Purp was showing signs that he might have been in Spec's class as far as being crappy, but he just wasnt here long enough to do as much damage as Spec did

Spec Richardson, the dark days of the franchise. That guy was a total dumbass. Little Timmy had a pretty small rope and still managed to hang himself with it.
Basically it is a dumb and dumber kind of thing though when referring to those two.
