Who was the first player to play in an official game for the Colt .45s to be traded? With whom did we trade and who did we get? I'm guessing Bobby Shantz who was traded to the Cardinals for Carl Warwick.

I'm guessing Bobby Shantz who was traded to the Cardinals for Carl Warwick. OK, smartie. Now, whom did we trade for when we sent Warwick back to the Cardinals in 64? Remember the great WS Carl had tht year? I think he set a record for pinch hits in a WS or something of that nature. Carl had been my favorite Colt .45. He had attended TCU the same time as my dad (who was attending on the GI bill). It was as close as I would come to feeling part of a World Series for many a year.

I have a question regarding the greatest promotional theme ever....the FOAMER... Man!...it was great....that light on the scoreboard...on for 60 seconds...off for 60 seconds...if an Astro hit a homer when the light was on...Free Beer!!!!...Cliff johnson will always have a warm spot in my heart for that....
The question is...How long would there be free beer/...and how many per Homer?...I just dont remember

Warwick was traded for Jim Beauchamp who was among that long list of power hitting first basemen hopefuls that the Judge was trying to find which included players such as the colorful "Diamond" Jim Gentile among others. When they traded Joe Morgan to the Reds, the Judge finally got his legitimate power hitting first baseman in Lee May - who was also an exceptionally good defensive fielder and a great hitter.

Who was the first Houston player to win a Gold Glove in a season in which he played for us? I think that was probably the "Red Rooster" who won 5 or 6 Gold Glove awards in a row playing 3rd base for the Astros.
