How many games does this moron have to give away before he is fired? He just gave away a two-run lead in the 9th and lost the game by allowing Dan Wheeler to pitch. Lidge was perfect in the 8th and had thrown only a few pitches. Lidge should have been left in to close the game because he has been pitching very well and Wheeler has sucked. Garner has now given away the game to St. Louis by not walking Pujols and now this one. These were two series we had won and this idiot gave both of them away. It's time to send Phil home to Kingwood and let Cecil Cooper manage the team.

My least favorite concept in all of baseball is that of "the closer". It all started with Bruce Sutter and its grip on the addled brains of managers has never released. If a guy is "on" in the eighth, why the hell not have him pitch the ninth? If the pitchers in relief roles were that good in the first place, they'd be starters. Garner has amazed me since he got here as having a "tin ear" for handling a bullpen. Think back of all the countless times that THE VERY FIRST BATTER the relief pitcher faces hits a HR. By definition, the very WORST decision that could have been made. Garner MUST have the record for doing that. Next to the closer, I hate the "left-handed relief specialist". A left handed hitter could be hitting .059 against righties, but by gawd, Garner will bring in Trevor Miller because "smart" managers play the left-left, left-right, right-left, right-right percentages. My dog has a very sore ass because of that and he would like very much for Garner to get the axe.

Trever Miller sucks against anyone. It's time to get rid of him.

Look you fncking moron - if a left-hand batter comes up and you don't want him to hurt you, just WALK the son of a b*tch. I damnwell guarantee you that there will be less damage in the inning than if you bring in Trevor Miller to pitch. Phil, are you really that fncking stupid, that dense, that lead-brained? Do you really have such a tin-ear for a pitching staff that you pull this kind of sh!t day-after-day-after-day. Dear Lord, if Dierker had been given 1/10 the leash you've been given we'd have won 3 or 4 WS by now.

Let's not exaggerate. Dierker had Moises Alou in his prime, Bagwell in his prime, Randy Johnson in his prime and still couldn't win a first round series. Dierker had a lot more talent than Garner has had to work with.

That '98 team was very, very good (until the playoffs, that is.)
