I am no longer an Iowan. I am working in South Dakota, south central right along the Nebraska border. Nice country with not very many people and lots of wind, and weather. Don't know how long I will be here, but it has been enjoyable. I thought I might ask how you folks are doing. It has been awhile since I have done much seriously on this website.

Good to see ya around again Iowa. South Dakota!!!! Brrrrrrrrr! I can honestly say that you're the only person I have ever known that has stepped foot in South Dakota. Coach is still hanging around teenage boys at the "Y" hoping for his dream date, JB is hunkered down in some bunker about a mile below the Saskatchewan crust waiting for Armageddon, armed with his 20 gauge bolt action shotgun, his notebook computer and a years supply of peanut butter and Sunbeam bread...and me? Just livin the dream my man, just livin the dream. How you been my man?

Been fine. I can't say that I dare to tell you what I am doing but if anyone comes to South Dakota to visit, they are welcome to find out what I am doing here. I think I am being safe to say that no one will visit? We are a tourist center here, the black hills and Mt. Rushmore. Great fishing where I am at. I am living my dream also with a few nightmares added in. That picture of Armegeddon with JBarron sounded pretty good. South Dakota is a good place to wait out that. It is cold but probably warmer than it was in Iowa. It gets blistering hot here in the summer. My wife is doing great and my two kids are doing great. Things are going pretty well except that I have been working harder than I would like to.

Glad to have you back. Things are better these days at home and the board is headed in the right direction now that Astrobuddy is gone.
Losing Lamearm was a tough blow though.

Iowafan, I have been up there on a vacation. Went to Rapid City, Deadwood, Lead. Stayed at Sylvan Lake. Saw Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse monument. Of course that was in the heart of the summer so it wasn't all that cold. It's a nice state though and you are right about there being lots to see.

Might mention to those that don't know me, I am what some might call a liberal. However, I believe that ideologically I am more conservative than the modern Republican, what the press has dubbed the neoconservatives. That is what I would consider Bush Cheney. Goldwater was the last guy to run for president that I thought was the type of Republican my father believed in. Although I guess you could say that Gerald Ford was that kind of Republican. Even Nixon was highly influenced by the older Republican kind of conservatism. Bush senior also was old school although his administration didn't really play out that way. I will not be discussing much politics but I have in the past with these folks. I have found those discussions to be fruitless. For me it is baseball and bullsh*t this time.

Yes, it's fruitless for you to try to discuss something you know nothing about.

I had to say it JB, or you wouldn't even talk to me. I really don't understand all of this hostility. We have always gotten along so well in the past. The end of the world is coming and neither you nor I can stop it and probably more likely to start in Houston that the desolate spot that I am hiding in. So drop in any time.

Never minded debating with Iowa, even though things would get heated at times. He was one of the few of that lot that did not imply that just because you are conservative, it must mean you're missing a chromosome.

I am not into debating much anymore anyway. I found it takes too much time and effort which I don't have these days. I really always have been here because I am an Astro fan. I have always read your comments about baseball. You folks are the Astro fans that I know and enjoy so I just come back here.
I know all about the Universities in Texas since I follow Big 12 sports. I am not saying that because I follow Big 12 sports I know all about the major Universities in Texas. Rice in Houston, about all I know about it is that it is tough. I have a daughter that is graduate school working on her Masters in Latin American studies and business at the University of Arizona. My son is a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently in Foreign Relations.

How proud you must be, T-Bone ...The American dream is having kids who had it better than you...I bet you are filled with pride that your son and step daughter didn't have to settle for getting their degrees via the ATM machine. ;D
