We get a winning record for a day and everybody gets happy, except for me. I am still gloom and doom. Today we put our scary ace up against Odalis Perez who has been solid most of the year. Of course in the hitter friendly environment of OJ park and the juice a flowing throughout, it could take Odalis out of his game. We can expect Oswalt to be up to pitching his game, therefore lots of hitting and perhaps a few timely strikeouts but also perhaps a few timely homeruns.

If you can't have fun when the team is winning, why bother watching baseball? Hell, if you can't have fun when they're losing there isn't much point to watch, either.

I'll be happy when we win a world series, everything else has already happened before in my lifetime. Why get happy about seeing reruns?

Agreed Iowafan. I am tired of watching the same sh*t year in and year out with this team. What we need is an owner that actually knows baseball, not a carnival barker, grocer like McLame.
We needed pitching and we got Valverde. He will be alright as a closer but what about the starting rotation? Oswalt is showing the wear and tear of 10+ seasons and the rest are doubtful at best although Wandy is starting to show signs of ability.
McLame needs to let the GM get the pitching we need instead of nickle and diming every decision.

I would love to have an owneralmost like jerry Jones of the Cowboys...whatever the team needs, he wants to go get...but with a little less personal input than Jones has....
That said...We all wish we had better pitching. I am one of those guys that thinks pitching and defense are way more important than all the big bats in the world..(see texas Rangers....score lots of runs, lose every damned year)...What I want to know is....who could we have signed as a pitcher?....who did we pass on?....sure I wish we had Qualls and Albers, but those guys were not dealt to save money....please...fill me in

My interest is not in who we could have had, I am not knowledgeble on the baseball marketplace and who is available and who is not. I agree perhaps good starters are hard to come by. I also think that they are the most at risk player on the field and therefore good ones probably need to be the most well paid. What are the Astros ranked these days in terms of total salary? Are they moving up in the field or down? I really don't have time to research such things.
