Lincecum is the pitcher, and believe me, this is the best one they have.
I would have this lineup:
1. Matsui 2b 2. Erstad cf 3. Tejada ss 4. Berkman 1b 5. Lee lf 6. Pence rf 7. Blum 3b 8. Towles C (only reason is Ausmus catch a night game and is a day game) 9. Sampson
This is going to be a very, very difficult game to win, but with this lineup we are only giving 2 or 3 outs, Towles would be pinch hit for later on the game.
The way we are playing we are able to beat great pitchers but is going to be difficult.
So far this roadtrip we are 5 and 1, incredible record.
I was expecting a 3 and 3 record by now, but we are doing much better than expected.
Go Astros.

So far the offense has definitely kept the club from embarrassing themselves but it can't last unless the pitching keeps improving. At this point though, I will give credit where credit is due. Way to go !

For that matter....the pitching has been improving....and not just enough to get by....pitching has been a plus.
I am especially impressed with our relief...outside of borkowski and Villareal, our relief has been quite good, seems to me.
If Wandy can come back( not a given as groin injuries can last, and last, and last.......) and be as effective as he hinted he might be, and if Oswalt has truely pulled his head out of his ass, we might surprise folks.( as i once said earlier, I am stunned)

When Wandy comes back the one that needs to get out of the rotation is Sampson NOT Mohler.
Sampson is a very very bad pitcher.

Sampson is stinking it up today. Still it seems odd the way he will pitch one good inning then have a terrible inning. I hope the bats stay alive. We have some of the worst hitters around playing today.

I disagree with Cooper here. It was time to take out Homer with guys on 2nd and third. The guy is awful today. You can't let the game fall apart just to prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Are we that short of pitching that we can allow a guy to give up 7 runs and then let him have the ball again next inning. This is crazy. I thought we were carrying another pitcher for situations like this.

Erstad hit a 3 run homer.
Cooper, you need to start playing Erstad MORE, please.
