Cecil Cooper gave away the game last night in the top of the 7th inning. Carlos Lee had homered to put us behind 3-1. Then, Pence was on second basee with one out and the tying run in the batter's box with Ausmus and Oswalt the scheduled hitters. Erstad, Blum, Loretta, and Cruz were all available on the bench to pinch hit. Any other manager would have used Blum or Loretta to bat for Ausmus and Erstad to hit for Oswalt but not our boy, Cecil. He cashed in the game and let Ausmus and Oswalt both hit. And, we know the result.......Pence was left on second. Berkman hit a homer in the 9th and we lose 3-2. Why is it so difficult for Cooper to make obvious moves? The idiot continues to give away games we need to win. That game last night would have given us the series win against the Cardinals. Instead, we lose the third series in a row to them. Way to go, Cecil!!

I agree that those were some dumb moves, but I personally think that Oswalt may be a head case right now. I have been reading some of the things about him and for instance when he said the ace was back sure we saw some improvement but nothing like the Oswalt of several years ago. I think Oswalt is having trouble dealing with his poor pitching and Cooper is having to deal with that. Oswalt needs to get his shirt together and realize that whether he is pitching poorly or well the point still is the team and how he can contribute. This is just a hunch but I think Oswalt's fragile ego is messing up the team. Notice how he stays in longer to get an extra chance to win the game. Chacon never got that luxury. There are sometimes when you just have to pinch hit.

Well, this idiot will nevr learn when to use players. In the 9th, you don't let Ausmus lead off against the Cards closer with Blum on the bench and available. Between Cooper being an idiot and Wigginton booting a double play ball, poor Wandy and the Astros got screwed out of this win.

We are going nowhere with a manager like Cooper.
Cards are worse than us but play BETTER because they have a good manager and a guy that will play the BEST player each game. Larussa would have Erstad playing and Bourn at triple a.

Bourn has certainly earned a ticket to the minors. And I agree that you have a speedster that can't hit making errors in the outfield it is sad. I think Cooper is a mess.

Cooper will have to be fired before this team makes the playoffs again.

Matsui, 10 errors at 2b and Bourn 5 at cf, thats awful.

When Bourn is making those errors in CF, I hope they remember that great trade we made sending Tavares to Colorado for Jason Jennings.

Cleofus Cooper needs to find an occupation that takes his abilities more into account because being a major league manager sure isn't one of them. He does not know how to use his bench, bullpen or even how to motivate a team!
The only good thing that I can say about Cooper is that he is not afraid to attempt steals. Garner looked like he was about to s**t the bed when ever someone tried to steal a base while he was here!

I think he goes overboard with the steals sometimes too. I think Cooper's glaring mistakes have been keeping Bourn out there and not doing something about the catching situation and then not playing Loretta and Erstad more. I think the starting pitching has been unresolvable because they are just bad with the exception of Rodriguez. I think you have to play Matsui because of what he gives to the team in offense. He is the closest thing we have had to a leadoff hitter for quite awhile. Erstad should be playing and that really bothers me. He could really be helping this team.

Erstad gets one at bat and singles in a run. This is pretty pathetic coaching. I can't believe that they can't get that guy more at bats.

I'd like to see this lineup used for awhile and see what happens.
Pence Matsui Tejada Berkman Lee Erstad Blum/Loretta Ausmus PItcher
I'd trade Wigginton and platoon Blum and Loretta at third base.
