I was looking at the situation tonight and the pitcher is lefty, Erstad is lefty and that is the reason he is playing Blum. The thing is that Blum doesn't hit that well against lefties. Erstad has a history of hitting less against lefties but this year he is 3 for 8. Still he hits at least as well against lefties as Blum. Cooper just plain doesn't do his homework. You need to know what you are doing. Maybe it is because against this pitcher he has been bad?

I looked at career vs. and Erstad has faced the guy before and Blum hasn't. I hate to say it but Cooper is just lazy. You need to do your homework.

iowafan it doesn't matter as mine isn't working right now anyway.
I will send a private message just look up in top right hand conor and it will say you have one message and douple click to read and then reply. give me a couple days or so until this has straighten out.

That manager has a short leash. I am a little surprised he pulled that guy so fast. It was probably a smart move.

I wasn't thrilled about Garner either. I really couldn't stand that guy before him. I kind of liked Dierker but have learned some things since then and never really followed too closely back then. I would like to have a really smart manager come to Houston. They have got to be out there to be had for not that much money. Tonight the problem was that our relievers didn't perform. Byrdak is starting to show some flaws and Brocail seems to give up some close ballgames. Too bad for Backe. It seems like these days if one facet of our game doesn't lose the game another will. I still think playing Blum was a mistake.

Garner got a bum rap. Wasn't HIS fault the Astros decided to tank an entire season, dedicating it instead to Biggio's exit... rather than actually trying to win.

Garner was a genius compared to this old field hand who is trying to run the team now. This idiot has made dumb moves that have cost us at least 7-8 wins. If Drayton doesn't fire this fool, the Astros will finish in last place. |

Yeah, I agree that sometimes managers get caught up in things they can't control. This manager got stuck in a wholesale turnaround of pitching. Sometimes I think managers are at the mercy of those around them. But this guy just doesn't seem to have much sense. For example I have noticed that Bourn is better against lower velocity pitching. Cooper hasn't seem to noticed that. Blum is better against pitching that is higher velocity. Erstad has been pretty good against anything this year. Pence is worthless against the type of pitcher that we had today at least at this point. He was starting to show some promise for awhile. The point is Cooper should be noticing these things and platooning based on matchups. Especially when you have a guy like Erstad that is pretty consistantly hitting but you are are hardly playing him.

Cooper's lineup is so mentally handicapped today I can't believe it. I just can't believe Cooper. I have to admit, I think this guy doesn't care about winning as much as putting his favorites in the lineup. This guy is a total moron. Trade Erstad.
