It is surprising that this day has come. Now we will see if the bums can keep on winning. Losing Carlos Lee didn't help. Today was kind of lucky. Oswalt didn't pitch that well and Lincecum must of been injured. Their relief pitching surely was bad. We are in good shape in this series.

I wish they could have picked up and started to play like this a little earlier. It is too late barring some kind of miracle. Has it happened before?

So what? They still are not going to make the playoffs. Maybe however, this will be a good start for next year IF McLame will let Wade do his job and stop putting his grubby little paws in the mix.

A guy just wonders if they will run out of gas. I think Cooper is doing much better than earlier too. I haven't had time to sit down and analyze it but it seems like he is moving lineups around more to adjust to the opposing pitcher. I know he is doing better with the pitching.

That's only because Cleofus knew that if he didn't do something, his ass would be in the unemployment line this winter!

He could still make it there. The pitching is going to crap again.

I am really surprised we came back and beat St. Louis tonight. This team seems to hang in there despite all of the problems. Where is Bourn? Is he injured again? I guess it looks like his hitting is anemic. I haven't been paying too close attention lately.

I guess it looks like his hitting is anemic. I haven't been paying too close attention lately. Who wants to see Bourn again anyway? Leave Erstad and Wigginton in the line up everyday in the outfield. Michael Bourn makes Adam Everett look like Lou Gehrig. I don't know who decided to roll the dice on Towles and Bourn at the beginning of the season because whoever it was he crapped out. Whose making the decision on these players anyway? It's pretty obvious that both Bourn and Towels can't hit major league pitching and whoever is coaching them doesn't have a clue either. Oh...and by the way, I wonder how much McLane is enjoying watching his millions being flushed down the toilet on Tejada? Talk about not only a waste of money on an obviously over-the-hill, overweight and "juice"-dried short stop, he's not much of an improvement over the 2004-2005 version of Adam Everett and with half the range of Everett. I said from the get-go that the Tejada trade was going to be a mistake. Not only is Tejada likely closer to 40 years old that 35, he's probably older than 40! What a waste of jack that could have been used to help build a legitimate big league pitching staff

strange...I usually agree with you james, but I was thinking that perhaps I had been too harsh in my judgement of Wade. I couldnt believe he had traded our whole bullpen to get players I was very unsure of....Well seems in the end that the bull pen he put together is the strong point of the team. Not only that, but he got some players that can play. I agree that tejeda is past it, but he still has an enthusiasm that I like. Wigginton is looking more and more like a steal and a brilliant pick up. Lamb is currently out of baseball, and Everett is only still in because of injuries to other options....Burke, Scott, bruntlett/....wellwhat have they done?...
I would rather have bourne on the bench than any of those guys
I mean really...we were crappy with all those guys we lost, and we are less crappy without em

James, you have expressed my sentiments on Tejada. I'm not ready to give up on Bourn just yet but he should have been sent down to Round Rock to learn how to hit. The problem is we have nothing in our farm system to bring up if we had sent him down. If Abercrombie is the best we have down there, we are in big trouble.

JB and Doug: Your both right. The team needs to be patient with Bourn and hope he at least can learn to hit in the .280 range and draw a lot of walks. The guy can steal bases but he has to get on first base first.
Concerning the Farm System, the Astros have been mortgaging their future for several years now. They really don't have a farm system right now of any substance.

It would have also helped if the Astros would have kept the Zephyrs as their AAA affiliate instead of dumping them so that Nolan could have the AAA affiliate in Round Rock. Personally. I don't think that he should be able to have the Astros AAA team as he is employed by the Rangers!
