I haven't posted in a while but this performance tonight is the little league stuff out of him. Please release his sorry butt tonight. Come on I know you can do it. Two grand slams in one game and all he can do is throw his hands in the air. Look it was your fault dummy

I have a feeling that if we get rid of Backe we may regret it next year. But there is certainly no future in him. He is old and probably it the best scenario worked out could only be decent for one or two years. If he keeps playing like he is, he has to be released. We are in trouble either way.

Backe is pitching after coming back from arm surgery. Plus, he has never experienced what it takes to pitch a full season. He is experiencing it this year and I think he's hit that "wall" that pitchers talk about when the body seems to just shut down and can't revive the stamina and strength one had early in the season.
Backe just needs to keep going out there and pitching even though he probably feels like he has a dead arm and legs that feel like 300 lb barbells. This will help him next year when he pitches an injury free complete season.

Thanks for the common sense insight as usual James...I could understand getting rid of backe if he was our only SP problem, but who besides Mohler has lived up to expectations or hopes this season?...none of em especially Roy O

Hell, if he continues to struggle, convert him back into an infielder. He has the fourth highest OPS on the team.

He has improved. I think that Cooper sometimes was leaving him in too long too. I have always thought that he is capable. With pitchers there are so many ifs. I think there is a possibility that he will put together a decent season next year.
