Chronicle and ESPN says Hampton will sign with the Astros for one-year at $2 million plus incentives. Not a bad deal if he stays healthy.

IF he stays healthy, it will be a good deal. Hopefully the Astros will catch a break for a change.

actually, they did the contract right..2 mil base and an addnl 2.5 in performance bonus's...That how all contracts should be anyways...Guy wins an mvp you pay him 20 mil the next year, the following year he turns in an adam everett type year you pay him 50k the next season and so on

Hampton isn't going to save our arse. It will go down in history as a bust. Drayton is trying to do things to entice fans. I am not impressed.

how can a signing that nobody expects to be very significant be a bust?....I mean really....this is simply a low risk, low price signing...nothing more, nothing less

to add to my previous post...signing hampton is kinda like it was sending lane up to bat....you knew he wasnt gonna do anything, so you were never disappointed with the result.
