I have been disappointed with the play since I originally wrote that post. Our hitting has been bad and our pitching has been worse. I guess I can just keep on hoping, and not expect too much. We need some good performances out of pitchers that are not very good at least not lately. You know things are tough when you wonder if they will have to bring back Brandon Backe.  |

It was good to see that players and coaches listened to my criticisms. Perhaps just the fear of Brandon Backe returning has got players playing better. I am still afraid that the major team weakness seems to be starting pitching at the moment. I don't know what they are going to do about it but I have serious doubts that even a great pitching coach can coax this staff into being winners by the end of the year. At least Oswalt seems to be pitching pretty well. If he keeps it up we should have an even record after tonight.
