in the bullpen. Sampson deserves another chance as a starter. I have no idea if Byrdak might be a possible starter but as desperate as we are I don't see why not. Maybe some others would be possible. Ortiz and Hampton are not going to make it. Moehler is barely passable. In desperate times you take desperate measures.

Ortiz has been released. Now, if they will get rid of Hampton, too. This won't happen because he is big buddies with some former Astro greats.

Everyone could agree with getting rid of Ortiz and hampton......the problem is that SOMEONE has to start and give a respectable 5 or 6 innings....Those guys are simply not out there. We are finally developing some young talent that could be tradeable, but there isnt anyone out there worth the gamble.
Just because our guys suck doesnt mean there is a better player out there available.

Bud Norris did great today. Seven innings of 2-hit shutout ball against the Cards and got Prince Albert out.

Looks like they might have a winner there. It is surprising to have something good happen. Just when you think hope is gone something appears to give you a glimmer.

I agree...he was terriffic...You never know with the young guys....I hope he is more like vida blue and fernando valenzuela than David Clyde.
Maybe we will say what Lasorda did when he was trying to explain the success of valenzuela...."he thinks there is a better league out there somewhere and he is trying to pitch his way out of here"

I have to admit, as much as I have always disliked the Dodgers, Tommy Lasorda is kind of one of those exceptions to the rule. How him and Orel Hershister ever got along I will never know.
