Maybe they haven't given up, but dealing Pudge was a pretty good sign. I really don't believe they have much of a chance but there is still an outside one. I still think they should have traded him and probably should look to the future. I am beginning to think that there is some possibility for the future. It will be tough with Drayton as owner. It is possible I suppose. I am surprised how well this team has done. I think they will dump the Cooper at the end of this year.

Unless Drayton is prepared to deal with a completely destroyed pitching staff by midseason next year it would be advisable that he send Cooper packing at the end of this season if not sooner.

James, this is JB. Cooper should have been sent packing before the All-Star break. I guarantee you that Oswalt and the veterans want him gone. He has lost the clubhouse and most of the players have no confidence in him. Drayton needs to grow a pair and fire him even if he is a buddy of Bud Selig's.

I think that game was the last wimper. It is time to move on and work for next season. It sure wouldn't hurt to make a trade or two, and as far as I am concerned any time you want to get rid of Cooper is good with me. Why do you think Cooper has been so hard on our pitching? I don't get to watch games but it seems like he was dealt a pretty shaky hand in pitching to start out with. It could have worked out if things wouldn't have gone wrong but remember we started out the year with Brandon Backe in the starting rotation. That was like an automatic loss or injury every 5 games. You can't expects anyone to do well under those conditions.

Were certainly not getting any younger and I'm starting to feel it more and more these days. Did you read Cooper's comment about Cardinals pitching coach Dave Duncan? Cooper said he doesn't know how Duncan is able to get so much out of his pitchers and doesn't know how he can take pitchers who appear on the downside and is able to turn them around. First possibility is maybe Duncan doesn't have a manager who doesn't care if he burns up his young pitchers. Cooper is just going through the motions and that's why he makes stupid moves just to make it appear like he's actually doing his job. He has no long term emotional ties with this team. He simply fell into this job because McLane was appeasing his buddy Bud Selig who asked McLane to give the job to Cooper no matter how unqualified he was. Cooper is just trying to hang on and milk his managers pay as long as he can before he get's canned. He'll just move on elsewhere. How many young pitchers careers he destroys in the process isn't going to effect him in the long term anyway. If McLane is willing to let this guy burn up his teams future and his financial investment in many of these young pitchers, then he deserves what happens.

No reason to bother trying to win now. I am sure Rodriguez was trying to this afternoon. The team isn't hitting well right now. I don't think they are doing much of anything well. Kindof lost interest myself.
