I am seeing a lot of different names being thrown around. Who do you guys think will make a good manager. I've seen Bogart and Duncan. I haven't quite made my mind up yet.

I'd try to get Brad Ausmus.

They just hired the bench coach for the Red Sox, Brad Mills. 52 years old and has never managed in the bigs. He was FIRED along with Francona and 3 other guys in Philly by......Ed Wade. This should be entertaining, in a sick twisted kind of way, at least if they don't upgrade some talent! ;D

Wade said firing Francona was the worse decision he has made as a GM

I'm not going to say much about Mills until I see what he does. I think we needed new blood, although of the finalists, I probably would have hired Garner. Draytie couldn't hire Garner because that would mean admitting that he should not have fired him in the first place. Now, that we hired Mills, we straddled him with Clark as a third base coach. Clark is one of the worst third base coaches I've ever seen. Then, we give the bench coach job to Pedrique. Excuse me, but, isn't Pedrique the guy mainly responsible for our farm system being ranked the worst in the majors? He screws up the farm system and we promote him to bench coach. Typical dumbass move by Drayton. Keeping Sean Berry as hitting coach was also a mistake. I know the guy is battling cancer but that is no reason to keep an incompetent hitting coach. Give him another job in the organization and hire a quality hitting coach. I wonder if we even bothered talking to Rudy Jaramillo after he left the Rangers and before the Cubs gobbled him up.
With all that said, I feel sorry for Mills. He has been saddled with some of Drayton's hand-pikced bozos and only two starting pitchers. I'm still waiting to hear why Brian Moehler was re-signed at $3 million for next year. This bum was 8-12 with an ERA of nearly 5.50.

This is what happens when you have an owner that really don't know squat about the game. Whether it be baseball, football (see Redskins!), basketball, etc. If the owner keeps interfering with his GM's decisions, the team will never be competitive on a consistent basis. The Astros had a great run, but look at how Draytie run Hunsicker out of town with his constant interference and the same thing is going to happen with Wade.

The Astros are in some trouble for some years. I wonder if anyone would really want Oswalt for what he would cost. He is kind of teetering on the edge. They may have to give away free oranges at games if things keep on going the way they are.
