I felt that this was a knee jerk reaction. Why send Towles to the minors when he actually has been showing signs of hitting and was hitting as well as Quintero? Why not send Lee and Berkman to the minors too, they aren't hitting much better. Has he been fielding poorly? I don't get it. I suppose they want to try out this new retread who has never done anything anywhere and isn't likely to start now.

Quintero should have been released a long time ago. His fat ass is the most useless excuse for a major league player I've seen in many years.

I fear this new retread they brought in. Why bring in a retread that is going to play any better than your regular. Is Towles that much worse than Quintero? I have trouble believing that.

Quintero does suck. However, he is the best catcher in the organization, which shows how poor we are at the position. He is a good defensive catcher, and might hit as high as 220, which beats hell out of anyone else we have.

Towles was hitting .191 and was improving instead of getting worse. It is not like I care really. I just thought it was knee jerk. Is Towles worse defensively than Quintero? I can't see games, don't have enough time.

There is no reason to care. The team is so abismal that it is hard to look and see what we have.I looked one day last week and every regular but Bourne and Feliz were hitting 200 or less....not 210 or 220...200 or less, and Feliz was hitting 230. In view of that, a journeyman catcher and a wanna be journeyman catcher dont seem to matter.
This bunch of Astros cant hit....Except for Lindstrom, Oswalt, and maybe Lyons, they cant pitch, and to top it all off, except for Bourne, they cant catch the damned ball either. Our rookie shortstop is light hitting as advertised, but he has been light fielding as well from what I have seen.
Too bad that MLB contracts are guaranteed unlike the NFL where you used to be able to fire imposter players.

I am not ready to condemn the whole pitching staff yet. It is hard to go out and pitch when you know you have to be perfect every day in order to win. The best situations are for relievers but imagine being a starter for this team. It would be daunting just to get up in the morning.

sadoug, the best catcher in the organization is jason castro, he will catch in the majors this year and is a real stud.
I don't like the Feliz siging, i prefered to see Chris Johnson play.
This team is very bad, so i think we shoud trade , Lee, Oswalt and Berkman, get a lot of young studs and build our team. I think our GM has done a credible job, but we need to get the bad contracts and old players out and start a youth movement.
Right now is no fun watching an ASStros game because we have too many old guys wasting spots for young players, pitchers that are not starters but relievers and not enough talent to finish third in our division.

Vega....I realize that Castro will be the future at catcher, but he is struggling at Round Rock right now.I fear that we may have to bring him up too early and cause damage to his confidence. Some guys never recover from that.
I also agree with you that we need to trade the old guys and find some young guys that at least act like they want to play.

I agree Castro is struggling (like Ackely with M's) but both guys are taking a lot of walks which is a very good sign.
Castro is going to be ok, should stay at triple a for half a season and then the position is his.

We can't trade the main two clowns who need to go........McLane and Wade.

WEll, i think Wade has done ok, lets see.
He brought Myers, who has been a very nice number 3 starter. Problem, Wandy is not pitching like a number 2 and Norris and Paulino are struggling.
He brought Lyons and Linstrom over Valerde and Hawkins. Valverde doing good, Hawkins sucking whille our 2 guys are doing very good. The relievers are doing a very good job and lets not forget he brought Fulccino last year.
Only move i don't agree is Feliz, because i prefer to see the young guy, but, I understand he wants to TRY and win now, but i would go with the young over the over paid veterans.
I don't agree on his move on Matsui, i said that since day one, but overrall, i think Wade has done a good job, plus FINALLY getting some talent in the minors.

I wish to god there was ANYTHING worth talking about regarding this piss-poor outfit. Blum's hitting well but they will NOT start the man. There....that's all I can come up with.

Ken, you must come up with more than that! We need to share misery around here. Cash is up, and you know what? I don't think anything good is going to happen. How did I come to have such a negative attitude?
