who plays what when biggio is taken out? who plays second? i hear burke an awful lot but what about loretta? he has been the best hitter on the team lately.surely they will not sit him? isnt that kind of a tough thing to do? Lamb as well...how do you explain why 2 guys hitting well over .300 keep riding pine?
i do realize they havent for a few weeks but this is sure to change is it not? ensberg is on his last leg and i wouldnt be surprised to see him traded or released, but then what? So you have lamb at 3rd, bruntlett at SS and burke at 2nd?
who's odd man out?

Hopefully, Loretta....Burke needs to be a bench player at best.

what people are forgetting is that Burke was a SS at tennessee. the astros moved him to second base, because at the time, it looked like Biggio would be hanging them up soon. Our best offensive lineup would be:
C Munson 1B Berkman 2B Loretta 3B Lamb SS Burke LF Lee CF Pence RF Scott
I know a lot of people aren't high on Luke Scott, but the skills are there. If he wasn't having to look over his shoulder at Jason Lane at the beginning of the season, I think he would have found a groove a lot earlier. Of course that doesn't account for the tweaked groin he's going through now.

They moved Burke to 2b because he wasn't very good defensively at SS.

Welcome, goove. Burke, Bruntlett, and Loretta are all better choices at second base than Biggio. Biggio needs to face the facts that the time has come to hang them up. The best thing he can do for himself and the Astros is get his 3,000 hits and then go home. That won't happen so the best we can hope for is that management has the guts to tell him he has the option of being a bench player or being released. They let him get his 3,000 hits. Now, it's time to do what is best for the team and playing Biggio doesn't help us win.
