Uncle Draytie is now trying to sell the Astros, but, wants around $700-800 million. The old fool ruins the team's future and now wants to make a huge profit when he sells. Let's keep our fingers crossed that somebody who wants to win and has a lot of money will buy the team and let this old bastard get out of the way.

That is our only hope. I was actually beginning to think that Drayton was showing signs of finally learning how to be a team owner and he gets up and sells the team. That perhaps shows the problem, perhaps he can't stand having someone else who is more capable run the team, and so he is giving it up. I just hope this doesn't end badly.

Drayton will never admit he made a HUGE mistake when he got rid of Hunsicker.

Be careful what you wish for. There are many, many worse owners than Drayton. The fact is, he is the best owner the Astros ever had. He made a huge mistake with hunsiker, but overall he did well by us.
Now we may or may not get a new owner. Ya'll may be very happy about it, but I fear a new owner will be much worse for us.

I have that fear too. As much as I disliked Drayton's meddling, at least he had time to learn in the position.

what i did not like is that he did not spend enough money to get prospects.
I believe great teams build through system.

We will never win until Drayton sells the team because he will not spend the money necessary to build a quality farm system. He will make no attempt to sign any free agents except those nobody else wants. He has made no effort to sign Carl Crawford even though an outfield of Crawford, Bourn, and Pence would be second-to-none in either league. No efforts are being made to add a starting pitcher and we have no closer. I hope this old fool will find a buyer SOON and give us a chance to start building.

well sure....and why didnt we try to trade for pujols at 1st and Arod at SS and go after Cliff Lee
Crawford was never close to affordable. The Astros are a mid market team and will never be able to compete with NYY and Boston for top free agent talent. Even if St Nolan owned the team we would never ,ever be able to afford guys like that.

Thats why PROSPECTS are so important, and remember, scouting WANTED Jeter, and we went other way.

I couldnt agree more....It isnt that I didnt want Crawford, it is that I think we would be better servedtrading for, or signing free agents that would fill several holes for us at the same price the one guy would have cost. Vega, I bet you could set up a same price scenerio that would play a better deal than blowing 150 million on Crawford.

crawford, with our wall in LF is not as important as in other teams.
One major part on his game is defense, we don't need a great defender outhere.
This team needs a left handed Outfielder, yes, but a power hitter.
I prever Hawpe (for the price) than Crawford.
