WHY do you use one of the worst if not THE worst hitter on your team as the DH? We get a chance to use the DH in an American League park and we blow the opportunity by using a DH who is not a better hitter than most of our pitchers. If Garner thinks he has to play Biggio, put him at secnd base and don't embarrass the whole team by having him DH. Having Biggio leading off is bad enough, but, to use him as the DH is insane.

Why in late june is anyone still asking this question? Hell, I know the answer as well as everyone else. It just makes me sick that we would sacrifice the success of the season just to get 3,000 hits for Biggio and pad Draytie's pockets a little higher. As was said in today's Chronicle, what is Draytie going to do to bring people to the park after Biggio get's his 3,000th hit during the next homestand? If he doesn't improve this team NOW, the attendance will hit rock bottom and he will pay dearly for not improving the team when he had the chance. All of the lies he told about why certain players could not be signed is going to bite him in the ass, as are the lousy trades made by his incompetent GM.

People haven't been coming to the park to see him chase 3000 hits. There might be a spike once he gets up to 2997 and up, but no one bought a ticket in May thinking they'd see the 3000th hit live.

The 2007 Astros season is what it is... A HUGE disapointment. No, I agree with Vega. Break it down and move toward 2008 and beyond.

I'd go ahead and try to trade Jennings now.
See if Lidge can get healthy and move him. We could maybe also trade Loretta to a contender and get something decent for him. I'd offer Woody to any team that would give us a bucket of balls or less for him. Pick either Lamb or Ensberg and trade the other. Trade/cut White & Miller from the pen. I'd rather see Randolph pitch than Miller.

i would try and trade jennings as well..i dont think he's that bad but im fearing more DL stints in the future..I would also dump lidge and wandy while they're good...Everybody knwos wandy will show his true colors sooner or later....on that note..i wouldnt trade any pitching w/o getting pitching in return, specifically mid relief...

no way in the world i would trade loretta..while im sure he wants that, i would have to get a good ballplayer in return...i dont understand the fascination some have with ensberg...how long do you let a guy struggle and fck things up? They did that with lane and it cost us games..They did that with lidge and they didnt make the playoffs..
white and miller just need to be gone altogether...i mean outright released...no team wants a relief pitcher thats guaranteed to give up 5 runs every time he goes out there....randolph is clearly not the answer either..he's horsesh*t..
these guys have nothing to lose so why not bring up the aa and aaa guys now? Id like to see patton get some big league innings...nobody is going to sell me on the fact he isnt ready now...half the pitching staff shouldnt be out there(including oswalt as of late)

I wouldn't want them to trade Loretta, but I could see if they did. He's signed to a 1 year deal for cheap, and if they think they aren't going anywhere, why not see if they can't get a good prospect for him from some contending team that needs a 2b.
Take it from someone who's actually watched him pitch twice now in person - he's not ready. He was barely above 90 on the radar gun all night long and was too inconsistent. He'd look great, then at times like crap. He's too young and far too important to the future of the team to rush him up now, especially in what could be a lost season. There are some guys ready to move up and be halfway decent, but a guy having a good but inconsistent season in a pitcher's park like Corpus isn't one of them.

Oswalt hasnt been Oswalt, but he has still been good. He just hasnt been great as we are used to seeing.

I'm sure Oswalt is getting tired of busting his butt trying to win while not getting any run support from this terrible excuse for an offense that Draytie and Timmy have put together. This kind of crap wears on you after awhile and I'm not surprised to see Roy hinting at it in interviews. In an interview the other day, Roy remarked about how long he would be here....referring to the length of his contract......and said he'd do his best and not worry about it. Most of the good players we have under contract will sign elsewhere unless Draytie either sells the team or spends money on players needed to win. His habit of investing two-thirds of his payroll on three or four guys won't get the job done. Berkman, Oswalt, and Lee can't win by themselves. We've spent too much time waiting on Ensberg and Lane to help carry the load and they have both flopped. It's time to ship Ensberg somewhere........ANYWHERE. Trade Jennings and get rid of Woody, White, Miller, and Palmeiro.

I agree 100% with that as well.. when i throw out lamb and loretta people have a million excuses. Everytime they're brought up someone brings up ensberg.. I mention loretta and they say something about burke..I think people are missing the bigger picture.. They arent berkman, lee or pence but they do contribute. Which is more than i can say for lane, biggio, burke, palmeiro, ensberg and most of the pitchers...
Ive had it with this ensberg talk. The guy fckn sucks.

hembo.. I dont know where you are talking but no one is throwing out Ensberg in here. He is toast. Lamb and Loretta are starters now and have been for a little while.
Ensberg is only here because no one around to take his place and he gets the occasional hit.

ensberg SHOULD play DAILY so we see if the guy can hit or not.
