Now that you've seen that Timmy Purpura can't handle the GM job, don't you think you should get down on your knees and beg Gerry Hunsicker to come back. Tell him you will stop meddling in baseball decisions since you don't know sh*t about baseball. You can get on radio and TV and talk about all of your "fine young men" and try to sell tickets and merchandise. Let Hunsicker run the baseball end of things. Remember all of the successes you had when you got rid of Darryl Kile, Mike Hampton, and Carl Everett just to dump salary. Remember you forced a trade of Billy Wagner just because he had the balls to tell the truth about you keeping the team from having a better chance to win because you were too cheap to go after a needed starting pitcher. Remember the lie YOU told about "running out of time" in signing Carlos Beltran when you had no intentions of signing hm in the first place. Yes, Beltran may have wanted to play in New York but he would have signed with the Astros if you hadn't refused to give him a no-trade clause.
Signing Carlos Lee was a good move and Mark Loretta was the best signing you made last winter as far as money is concerned, and you do concentrate on money, don't you Draytie. After all, you are a BILLIONAIRE and have to be concerned with "budget".
Wake up and do what needs to be done! Fire Purpura. Don't fire Garner.......yet......because it isn't his fault that you gave him a bunch of sh*t for a team. He didn't trade two pitchers who are better than what you signed, plus a leadoff hitter who is hitting over .300 for Jennings. Imagine the speed we could have if we had Taveras and Pence hitting#1 and 2 in the lineup. Your icon Biggio could be hitting 6th or 7th where he belongs instead of killing the offense leading off. You have made no attempt to get a catcher for the future. Ausmus is 38 years old and we don't have anyone behind him who is a quality catcher. Munson might be a capable backup. Quintero sucks. You probably could have signed Benji Molina but made no effort. I wanted you to go after Pudge before the Tigers got him, but, you needed Ausmus and his .220 batting average handling the pitchers. Is it just a coincidence that the Marlins won the World Series when Pudge was there? Is it also a coincidence that the Tigers went to the WS after signing Pudge? No, why go after a quality catcher like Pudge when you have Brad Ausmus. We let Johann Santana go in the Rule 5 draft and what has he done besides win the AL Cy Young Award?
Yes Drayton, you and Timmy have really given Astros fans a quality product. You have gotten rid of Carlos Beltran, Billy Wagner, Willy Taveras, Jason Hirsch, Roger Clemens, and Andy Pettitte. You have replaced them with Jason Jennings who has won ONE game, Woody Williams who is 3-10, Rick White, Trever Miller and other useless clowns. You have hung onto Jason Lane and Morgan Ensberg so long that you are now stuck with both of them. Astros fans everywhere want to thank both of you for taking a team that went to the World Series in 2005 and turning it into one that won't finish in the top 3 in the weakest division in the major leagues.
