We all know he will play until he hits .125 with an OBP of .200, so he will get 4,000 hits for sure playing REGULAR baseball for the Astros

Garner better watch out. There is talk in the Chronicle of Biggio becoming a manager or coach.

It wouldnt surprise me one bit if Garner was fired and Biggio was the new Astros manager in 2008. Bagwell could be a bench/hitting coach and Clemens could be the pitching coach ( not likely).
Actually, Ausmus wouldnt be a bad choice for Pitching Coach.
Drayton would LOVE that from a marketing standpoint and it is just the type thing he would do.

If Biggio indicated he wamted the job and Bagwell agreed to be part of it, it would be a done deal. Drayton would do whatever it took to make it happen.

Maybe, maybe not.
I doubt there is a stat to prove that, minor league or otherwise.

WELL, at least we know Ausmus WILL NOT PLAY BIGGIO. Biggio would be playing Biggio until he is 50

Vega, I've been just as disgusted with the Astros for seeming to put Biggio's 3,000 hits above winning games, but, don't you think it 's time to stop totally trashing the man on every thread? Yes, I think he needs to retire, but, he has been a hell of a player for a good many years. He's been loyal to the Astros when he didn't have to be. He's not perfect and I'm the first one to say that, but, he is a great professional. If every player we've ever had played as hard as Biggio, we'd have been to more than one World Series. Let's let him bow out gracefully and with dignity. He deserves that much.

Good post JB. Very very true.
Biggio will finish the year and retire. Thats how it should be.
Unless he is traded, gets hurt or the Astros trade for or sign another better 2nd base option Chris Burke will get his shot at 2nd in 2008. Then we will see what his worth is and who is right and who is wrong.

We don't know what Burke could do as the regular second baseman until he gets out from under Biggio's shadow.

htis team is going nowhere this year, to have biggio playing instead of YOUNG GUY is plain stupid, and i will CONTINUE to make that argument for the WHOLE year unless BIGGIO stop playing and give the OPPORTUNITY, FINALLY to Burke.

Burke isnt the answer either and Vega, you have, well no you dont but maybe the Astros know what everybody else but you seems to know and that is that Burke just wont cut it.
I dont know... just a guess. Maybe in the Astros mind Biggio is the best option. Burke hasnt exactly been great in the time he has had. Unlike Pence. So ar Burke looks just like another Jason Lane except he has on glory moment.. the homerun against Atlanta in the playoffs.

You know what...You guys might just be BS'ing but its not too far off track...Biggio and bagwell? i never thought of that but it could happen...you know bagwell will be in the mix somewhere. you also know drayton will fire garner in a second to keep biggio..The ausmus thing would be huge, because he knows pitching more than hitting...
