The guy is hitting .270, incredible.
This is his third year and looks like is going to be 2 bad years and one good one.
Yes, i know, good numbers for a CFer but not for what he is getting paid.
Waid, an out, now he is hitting UNDER .270.

Oswalt p for 3 so far, average down to .268, he better start hitting or he will hear the boooooo birds at NY.
I think it was a big mistake for him to sign with Mets, with Astros he would have better numbers.

Another deal MacLane screwed up because of a stupid no-trade clause.

yep, he would be a good number 2 hitter in our lineup.
Imagine this lineup:
1. Loretta 2b 2. Beltran cf 3. Berkman 1b 4. Lee lf 5. Pence rf 6. Lamb 3b 7. Ausmus c 8. Everett ss 9. Pitcher.

I highly doubt they would have went after Lee if they had signed Beltran.

I highly doubt they would have went after Lee if they had signed Beltran. I agree. Drayton is too cheap to spend that much money to guarantee a productive offense.

lee wanted to play at houston, drayton would had gone after lee (no bagwell's contract) and a chance to have clemens back and another world series.

You can't guarantee a productive offense. Ask the Yankees.

He might have wanted to play in Houston, but would he have changed his tune if the offer would have been significantly lower than $100m total?

drayton is the one that needed to step up the plate.
He would have a good defense and offense there.
You don't sign Woody and instead you go with pettitte and keep the YOUNG INEXPENSIVE PITCHERS.
Rotation of:
1. Oswalt 2. Pettitte 3. Clmens 4. Hirsh 5. Wandy
Then you have Sampson in the bullpen. Springer signed.
This could had been a great team if we signed Beltran and Lee.
With those 2 i bet you Pettitte and Clemens are in Houston and not in NY.

Lets see contracts:
NY Mets:
1. Beltran 2. Delgado 3. Glavine 4. Wagner 5. Green 6. Loduca 7. Alou
Astros
1. Beltran 2. Lee 3. Berkman 4. Oswalt 5. Pettitte 6. Clemens
You tell Biggio, ok, you want the 3,000, we give you the position and the at bats but you need to take a big paycut because we are signing Lee and re signing Pettitte and Clemens.
Yes, big payroll but still have Hirsh, Wandy, Pence and Everett with low numbers. Same with many of our relievers.
I think Houston would had signed Lee even if we had Beltran on the roster.
