This team is playing beter baseball with Loretta playing SS (good bat) than with Everett hitting 7th with a great glove. What do you guys think? ?

It makes a difference because baseball is offense AND defense.

Oh ya...i forgot...Loretta looks pretty good out there my friend..He is the second best hitter on the team..how does that help them if he sits on the bench?

Don't expect to see Everett on the bench when he comes back. You don't keep the best defensive SS in the league on the pine, especially when your overall team defense sucks as bad as the Astros.

this team with biggio (hitting right now) everett and ausmus is too weak, and scott outhere, we need loretta at ss and lamb at 3b.
This team looks much better with loretta and lamb than ensberg and everett there.

We need to get rid of Ensberg. Everett strengthens the defense and saves runs with his glove.

id rather have a guy who can actually contribute to the offense with less glove..if the pitching was worth a sh*t it really wouldnt matter who played SS

Yes it would. Part of what makes a pitcher good is having a good defense behind him. Take any pitcher and he's going to fare much better with Everett behind him as opposed to someone like Lugo.

If you were to ask our pitchers who they would rather have at ss and I bet 9 out of 10 would say Everett. He covers so much more ground than anybody else on the team. I did see a quote from either Roger or Roy saying that Everett saves more runs than he could ever knock in. But that's just a pitcher's opinion.

Shortstop is one of the positions where the glove has to outweigh the bat. Most teams wouldn't think of benching Everett if they had him.

so boston would have zero problem trading beckett for everett...think they will?
