How long can the Astros continue to have a shortstop and catcher who aren't very good offensively?
I know, I know.... we have some others guys who are not hitting and need replacing but at some point in their career they were considered decent offensive players.
Ausmus and Everett have has some flashes here and there but are really just a couple of outs waiting to happen. They are on the team because of their gloves but can't we find guys who can field and hit.

He is in it now but he wasn't always. Everett and Ausmus never could hit.

I can't defend Ausmus, but Everett's bat is not the problem with our offense. If we're getting decent production at 3b, 2b, and RF, then Everett's not going to kill us.
We need to start Lamb & Loretta and find someone to play RF that doesn't mind hitting the ball out of the infield occasionally.

I'd rather have Duckworth than Albers.

My point was you can't start two defensive specialists. You can afford to give up offense in 1 spot, excluding the pitcher, but not in 2 spots.

I know what you mean, but I don't know that I would even call Ausmus a defensive specialist anymore. He's actually hitting better than he's fielding in 2007 (and that's not saying much).

Well, i always liked Duckworth but he was not right in Houston, i don't think he was healthy with us.
I read somehwer that he was throwing hard this year, if thats true then that is the player i remember from Phillies.
Now, he was not that pitcher with us so i can't blame the astros for releasing him.

I think the Red Baron was just trying to get under Predator's (14all) skin with the Duckworth comment.

You are Predator's new best friend.

Well, he's pitching better than he has recently, but I personally wouldn't say he's pitching very good. His k rate is below average, his bb rate is high, and his k/bb rate is pitiful. He's allowing fewer hits than IP which is a good thing, but I'd bet a shiny nickel that it doesn't continue. I don't see that 2.42 era staying that low for long.
