It's a shame that this type of stuff is allowed to happen. At least, they could have rigged ti to elect someone who actually deserves it instead of this poster boy for Moonpies.

Its a bunch of BS...Its just a lot of people voting over and over..hell, ausmus and loretta admitted the astros players took shifts voting over and over again for oswalt...so before we blast barry, lets take a look at oswalt..how bout that?

Yep, the whole system is a joke. The game is meaningless.
Still, I don't see that a guy hitting .295/.512!!!!/.589 is undeserving to go. He's having a very good year.

Barry is a jerk and that's reason enough for me to personally never vote for him. But that is my personal opinion. And personally speaking I would love for him to NOT be there. But wuth the game being IN SF, everyone knew he would be there, like it or not.
I must admit that blindly speaking I would vote those numbers in if I could do it for number 34 of Florida instead of 25 of the Giants. (I have NO idea who, if anyone, is #34 for Florida) That was an example of voting the numbers and not the name.

First, Barroid Bonds is a cheat, a liar and a criminal. He should not be a member of the All-Star team. He should be a member of a penitentiary.
Because we have a baseball commissioner who doesn't have a pair of testicles, this type of charade continues in Major League Baseball.
I don't watch the All-Star game anyway. It should be played in Hawaii around the middle of November in the same manner as the NFL Pro-Bowl. Since the Pro-bowls and All-Star games are all self serving bulls**t anyway, let 'em play the things after the season is over and they can sit around for three days patting each other on the back and telling each other how great they are.

The game doesn't mean a damn thing and I seldom watch it unless there are a couple of players I want to see. Thsi crap of giving the home team advantage in the WS to the winning team is a lot of crap. Let the league champion with the best record have the advantage.
In my opinion, the players should select the All-Star starters and the pitchers. The manager should pick the rest of the squad. Also, having to have each team represented on the team is also BS.

I have long said the fans are morons and that voting should be taken away from them.. this year, however, the starters are all deserving. This is one of the few years i can say that..i cant help but wonder if people arent upset because the astros never have anybody there? berkman last year and oswalt every now and then but for the most part its been a decade since they have seen any action(biggio)

If an Astro doesn't make the All-Star team I don't get upset because it's likely because they didn't deserve to be there in the first place. Take for instance Oswalt. The way he's been pitching this year, he's lucky that he's even there. Of course, the way the whole system is set up, at least one player from every team has to be on the squad in the first place.
Of course, once they get this farce out of their system and start playing for real again, I'll be happy. ;D

Actually, the way people talk i can see why he doesnt play...The HR derby is silly as hell. Its probably entertaining to those in attendance but meaningless nonetheless. take for example vlad guerrero..You saw his hands hurting and bleeding from swinging in a fashion he isnt use to...he had to get more tape(he doesnt wear batting gloves)and it was obvious it pained him.. These guys are swinging differently and really applying a different approach. ITS NOT as easy as some here would have you believe.
Take bonds..The guy is 42 and could easily pull something in this silly assed thing. Imagine a GM just cringing at vlad being hurt in a HR derby or maybe cashman possibly watching jeter and arod collide in the game itself. What would jocketty think if Pujols pulled a hammy trying to launch one in the HR derby?
The point is this..While entertaining i dont blame Bonds for sitting it out...
