Doesnt matter if he leads 7 of 7. You dont trade those 3 players. No team would do that deal. 3 starters? Not on your life. Maybe theyn would do that deal in a salary dump, but then Arod makes more than those 3 combined. IN a normal year Berkman gives you Arod offensive production and Pence is a star in the making.

Nobody is worse than fat little Timmy. The Jennings deal proves that.

Ensberg traded to the Padres, not sure what for yet. If he was able to get anything for him, or even if it was to get another team to pay his salary for the rest of 2007, that's got to be a mark in the positive column for Purpura.

PTBNL or Cash is what he got.
They get to pay Ensberg and the Astros get either a player or cash. Thats good !

Berkman, Lidge and Pence for Arod? Come on..... Thats nuts. He isnt that good hembo.
ab you're incredible..i do admit its hard arguing your kind of logic ;D it doesnt even matter arod leads the majors in just about everything and his numbers are similiar to pence and berkman combined LMFAO
the part about him not being that good , well, theres not enough bandwidth for a reply...People know where you're coming from and thats whats important.

hembo... Let me see if I can try and explain it to you. He isnt " THAT " good, not "he isnt that good".
IN other words.. He is great but he isnt THAT good to warrant 2 starters and a Closer.
YOU are the only one who knows where YOU are coming from. I know you love Arod. So be it. He is a great player. But he isnt so good that he would make up for Berkman and Pence. Sorry, but I would be willing to bet you that NO TEAM makes that deal. Berkman, Pence and Lidge for Arod.
NOT ONE.

Oh sure they would..The only reason Arod isnt wanted by everybody is that he is a big hit on the luxury tax...His salary would make most major market at least on the edge of that hit..boston, dodgers, mets, cubs etc....anyways thats neither here nor there..I can see defending berkman and while pence sure looks good do you know for fact he will not be in AAA 2 years from now? you know for absolute fact lidge is dominant again and will stay that way...you can prove beyond any reasonable doubt berkman isnt on the downturn of a good career? you know this as fact?
well heres what i know for fact..arod is 6 months older than berkman and shows zero signs of slowing down. he is so far putting together one of the finest seasons in recent memory and berkman is hitting .259 pence is on the DL and Lidge could fall apart any moment..i like my chances with Arod... Please note not many people have weighed in here..
having said that..i do enjoy watching Pence and i have no doubt he will be good..he will not be Arod good and he would be a cash cow for mcclain..yes, the astros woudl do this trade. Like him or not he is fastly becoming the best all around player in MLb history...

ARod is a great player, the greatest in the league, but it wouldn't make the team better to trade TWO of your starting 8 plus your closing pitcher for one guy.
No GM in the game would make that deal. Look at what Texas got for ARod the last time he was traded: Alfonso Soriano and a low, low level prospect.

It sure wouldnt make sense to do it now but the players mentioned, who would really be missed? pence perhaps but who knows

The trouble is that baseball seems to be a .."what have you done for me lately "type enterprise
When Arod was traded by texas, he wasnt having a good year...seemed to be a clubhouse cancer and cost a ton......Today, he is having a huge season, seems happy, and everyone loves him....he brings a hell of a lot more today than he did when texas traded him.
I am not advocating any deals, ....and if Spec Richardson were still GM, he would trade those 3 for Arods' house cleaner.

Spec Richardson makes fat little Timmy look like a genius.
As for Hembo, we should all stop trying to inform this guy on things he should know. In short, we are wasting our time talking to an idiot.

Doug i dont disagree with some of that. he may be a clubhouse issue..The part about him not having a great year may be a little off though. didnt he win the MVp the year before he was traded to the yankees? i also believe he had 3 straight 50 hr seasons..Thats pretty good numbers..i will look this info up but i thought he won the MVP in Texas?

btw doug..the problem a lot of times on this board is the arguing with idiots..you know where the conversation is going when people are slamming Arod(not you but others) Ive said it a zillion times..if an astro isnt doing it its not being done...Instead of an intelligent debate people throw out the smoke and mirrors in attempt to mask their idiocy. Its an act Jb has managed to pefect over time..he offers nothing but bs

When Arod was traded by texas, he wasnt having a good year...seemed to be a clubhouse cancer and cost a ton......Today, he is having a huge season, seems happy, and everyone loves him....he brings a hell of a lot more today than he did when texas traded him. Doug, ARod's last year in Texas, he hit .298 with an OBP of .396 and a SLG of .600. He also had 47 hr and 118rbi. I'd call that a 'good year'. He was also 28 years old (in his prime) and was playing a key position on the field, and playing it well. If that guy could only bring Soriano and a minor leaguer, the 32 yr old version that hasn't played SS since 2003 and supposedly wants $30m a season if he gets out of his deal would probably have a lower trade value, not a higher one.
