Trading Lamb and Loretta would be a good thing. Lamb has already stated he will come back next year so get something for him, same with Loretta. There is no reason for them to be on this team this season.
I agree with Vega.. lets the kids play.

well thats agreed so that begs the question of why they would bring up lane and continue to play ensberg and ausmus?

You don't trade Dan Wheeler for a guy like Ty Wigginton and sit the guy on the bench. Compared to Ensberg's offensive numbers, Wigginton is by far a more superior hitter than Ensberg.
If Ensberg isn't traded and Wigginton not slotted in at third everyday, I'd have to question the IQ level of Purpura. For personal reasons, I hated to see Wheeler traded but that's part of the game.
Since Wigginton is on the verge of 30 years old, it obviously wasn't a trade made for the future. He was acquired to start playing now and everyday.

I think Ensberg knows he'a about to be traded. My question is "who the hell would want him and give something for him"??

I don't think Wigg is much of an improvement over Ensberg.

Vega.. no matter how you slice it up or spin it, Wiggington is ALOT better than Ensberg at this point and costs a ton less.
He could be a good replacement for a couple of years. If he is, then the trade was ok. If it turns out to be the 1st of many deals then it could be a great trade. If Wiggy turns out to be a dud then it was horrible. Remember, Gerry Hunsicker made trades like this all the time that didnt look good at 1st but turned out to be good later.
As far as Wheeler... well... we may have gotten all we could out of him. One never knows.

yes i do. Look at what Linebrink cost Brewers, thats the market.
A good number 8 inning reliever gives you 2 good prospects, one very good the other one good.
Linebrink gave SD the number 3 prospect for the Brewers, Inman, a future starter.

Thats not the market. Thats what ONE team was willing to give and they overpaid because they felt they had too.
I am not saying the trade was a good one. I am saying that we dont know how teams feel about Wheeler.

That is the market, a team trying to win a division and in NEED of relivers. Team in need of relievers playing to go to playoffs are boston, yankees, indians, m's, all in need for relievers, they would OVERPAY for relievers. If you follow baseball instead of ONLY following the astros you would realize that middle relievers are HIGH in demand AND FEW to trade, meaning, you will get a lot for them. EXAMPLE, SD AND MILWAUKEE. Come on AB, quit protecting Purpura, what has he done in the past 3 years for you to protect him? ??/ It was an awful trade and we could had gotten a lot more than a utility guy for wheeler. Purpura is AWFUL.

I do follow baseball Vega. As much if not more than you. How many relievers in all this demand have been traded? 2?
The Astros decided they wanted to get a 3rd baseman now for next season instead of trying in the off season.
Will it be the right move? I dont and you dont know yet.
But the market for WHEELER must not have been that great.
Wiggy isnt a utility guy. He is the Astros starting 3rd baseman. Burke is a utility guy.

Wig did not start the season as Tampas 3b, nor was the starting 3b for Pirates, thats the truth.
Demand for relievers, especially 8th and 9th inning guys are higher than a utility guy, sorry but thats the TRUTH.

Prove thats the truth? It isnt the truth because you say it or ESPN says it. I ask you how many have been traded and you cant answer that.
Just answer that.
You dont create a market based on 1 trade.
