A chunky dude in centerfield is always going to come off ugly.
Welcome to the board.

Bill Brown was putting in a plug to sign Hunter on last night's telecast.

He's actually been playing the field pretty well it's just his hitting that is ugly. It's either a homer or nothing so far.

Yeah Lane has been playing the field pretty well lately, but he is still a Punch and Judy hitter.

well as unpopular as this may be , getting another OF shouldnt be the first priority...I dont know who is available but i would certainly be looking for or trading for a 3b and catcher..not to mention upgrading one of the worst rotations in MLB...Pitching has got to be first priority
Mcclane didnt give poopooa enough money but the money he did give ended up going into the sh*tter so i would also be looking for a new GM...
scott may or may not be good but with pence, lee and most likely berkman, they can cover for some light hitters...if scott is given a full year to play i am willing to bet he hits .280 and 25 -30 hr's
regardless of what people think about munson he isnt the answer back there and is more than likely buying time until towles can play..i wouldnt spend much on catcher..plus i dont think there are any good ones available?
Hunter may make more than he's worth and would certainly take away a huge chip from whatever amount the GM is given to spend

I agree that we really don't have to make a move in OF. I still think Scott can fill in decently if he's left alone out there, not platooned. We don't need to worry about 3b, Wigginton fills that spot, which was exactly what that trade was made for. We do need a stop gap at catcher until Towles is ready, and we do need a couple starting pitchers and a reliever of three.
Hunter is not going to make a lot of money next year, or probably the year after. He won't be eligible for arbitration until after the 2009 season, unless he makes it after next year as a "super 2".

i think he has a history of DL stints which must be considered. of course if you can get him on the cheap, why not? Sounds like we more or less agree chandler....The pitching is horrible and they should take a look at anybody out there under 40

Lanes' worthless ass wouldn't be here now if Pence wasn't injured. He needs to be traded or released at the end of the season.
