Why? He has been horrible. His career stats show nothing that would be telling that he will be good. He is only 25 and has been DFA'd by the Indians, a team in the playoff hunt.
Whats your take and why should the Astros want this guy?

Tampa signed Cabrera, NOW we see why Hun is such a good evaluator.
Cabrera will be the closer of Tampa.

Er....Vega. I agree that Purpura is a horrible Gm......BUT, Hunsicker was the guy who signed Doc Gooden, Kent Bottonfield, and Charlie Hayes for the Astros. He's had a few screw-ups of his own.

Took Hidalgo over Abreu and then signed Hidalgo to a HUGE contract.
He isnt here so he is the greatest GM ever. This Astros team as it is constructed is also Gerry's fault. He traded awat ALOT of young talent.

He didn't sign Woody Williams or trade for Jason Jennings. He didn't send Hunter Pence to Round Rock to open the season.
Yes, Hunsicker traded away young talent but he got Randy Johnson and a chance at the WS for most of it. It wasn't Johnson or Hunsicker who forced the team icons to suck in the playoffs.

No, but what you never seem to understand is that alot of teams " icons" suck in the playoffs. Would you have rather spend the last 20 years without Biggio and Bagwell on this team. I wouldnt.
Before we get off the topic, which isnt Bagwell and Biggio, Gerry wasnt as great as some thing. He did a nice job, but he did the same things Purpura is doing. GM's all work for the owners of these teams and work with what they are given. Tim has been working with the budget Drayton gives him and the team as Gerry left it.

The real problem is Drayton's lack of baseball knowledge and his unwillingness to spend enough money to win. He usually manages to spend enough to stay competitve but not to go all the way. This year, he didn't care if we won as long as Biggio got his damn hits.

Agreed Baron. Draytie thinks that you can run a baseball team the same way you run his wholesale units. buy as much as you can for as little as you can and make a profit. He doesn't care about winning unless it's in his wallet and screw the fans.
As far as Biggio goes, he heas had the wool pulled over Drayton's eyes since he bought the team.

they suck this year, but i think Drayton does want to win, but he has some quirks that sometimes interfere. plus he's 150 years old.
