Someone didn't do their homework on WIlliams (not you, hembo - Purpura).
This guy had a high HR allowed rate last year while pitching in one of the most extreme pitcher's parks in the league. Of course he's going to allow a lot of HR in MMP. He's been traditionally a flyball pitcher who's averaged 1.22 hr per 9 ip. His k rate wasn't good last year and it's worse this year, plus he's walking more.
Stupid, stupid, stupid move to give this guy a 2 year deal for that money.

You're right, Chandler. Williams is not a good fit for MMP.

and we did not re sign Pettitte and instead we gave 2 year deal to woody.
purpaura has made so many mistakes as GM that should cost him his job.

I don't blame them for not giving 2 years to Pettitte with a player option on the 2nd year with the big money. He'll be on the DL at some point this year.

Drayton wanted a yes man and he got one. Purpura's in over his head.

Purpura is proving to be incompetent. The only thing he's done that makes sense is sign Carlos Lee and I'm guessing that Drayton did most of the negotiating there. Drayton made it impossible for Hunsicker to stay and now hes' got what he wants and deserves........the Pillsbury doughboy.

Actually considering the other salaries being thrown around, the deals he made with Berkman and especially Oswalt are virtual steals.

f**k those two...not worth the money..i would rather see them pull off some kind of coup at the break. i'd take my chances with sampson, jennings and oswalt..If the other idiot starters can go 500 that will put this team in the playoffs.

I can't figure out why you seem to think that the Astros chose Williams over Pettitte. I don't think anyone was saying they'd rather have Woody. Pettitte didn't work, they (made a mistake and) went with plan B.

Woody, pitching bad in the 4th, this guy is wasted money.
Pity Pettitte is in NY and Woody in Houston, pity.
