www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bb/5073076.htmlFrom Chronicle Website.... "Astros righthander Jason Jennings was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday so he can have season-ending surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon in his right elbow. Jennings' spot on the 25-man roster was taken by rookie center fielder Hunter Pence, who came off the 15-day DL.
Jennings, whom the Astros acquired via trade because they were worried about Andy Pettitte's left elbow, has actually been dealing with the elbow problems since last season with the Colorado Rockies."

Can they prove that he was injured going back to last year? If so, they might have recourse.

If Purpura has a pair - he should be on the phone to the commissioners office right now demanding that the trade to acquire Jennings be made null and void due to the fact that Jennings was damaged goods before the Astros got shafted into taking him off Colorado's hands..

I'm sure if they can prove that he was damaged that they will be on the phone.

Fat chance, James. Does the name Donn Clendenon ring a bell? MLB doesn't give 2 sh!ts how high or hard we take it up the a$$. I think caveat emptor applies. Any moron could have surmised Jennings had an arm injury last year. But TP is no moron. He is a turnip.

purp should had known, scouting said he lost a lot of velocity on fastball LAST year, it was a mistake by a very bad GM.
Second, people on this forum were WORRIED about Pettitte, well, we worried ABOUT THE WRONG pitcher, it was Jennings.

Drayton has had his nose up Selig's butt for awhile now. It's time to call in a favor and have that trade voided and make the Rockies give us Taveras back.

Since Jennings' problems last year were well known, Houston accepted the risk.
Colorado hid nothing in the way of information. That's what you have to prove, not just that he was injured.

That would be an interesting outfield, Lee in left, Taveras in center and Pence in right.

The scouting department should have been aware of the velocity loss, which was one red flag. Also, dont teams require a physical before a trade is made? You would think that the scouts knew that Jennings had lost velocity on his fast ball, and still being young, the Astros would have asked questions and or preformed tests to see if the loss of MPH was related to arm problems.

They had let Pettitte walk without any attempt to sign him and Purpura was desperate to get a pitcher so this horrible trade was made. I doubt if we even bothered to have Jennings examined.

According to the Comical this morning, the injury does go back to the offseason. Or at least that is what I saw in the headline. I admit I did not read the article yet but it seems that it was not unknown. Now if Jennings knew and the Rockies knew and didn't say anything then there may be issues.
