Houston did not wanted to give him a no trade clause, NO IDEA WHY.
I believe what he told me because i understand why a guy would want a no trade clause in his contract after been the right of a club for 9 years.
He wanted to play for Houston because he was very fond with Berkman, he liked the city but WANTED a no trade clause.
That is a STANDARD clause for a star player but, for whatever reason Purp screwed that one.
On that one, i believe Beltran.
If you are not willing to give me a no trade clause, I GO.

I would tend to believe Beltran because Mclane has proven to be a windbag, a con artist, and a liar. He has claimed to lose money every year but has yet to produce figures to prove his claims.

"windbag, a con artist, and a liar."
While I don't agree that descibes McLane, I certainly do think it describes Boras. This was Boras' deal. He refused to even talk to the Astros until the very end. In the meantime, they had to pass up on other free agents they may have otherwise been interested in.

Even at that, it's better to be playing being one of the 28 teams sittin' on the couch. Going to a couple of WS games at MMP with the Astros player still leaves me juiced up.
That said Beltran did see playoffs last year and probably this year. And we'll be on the couch. But 2005 was still a fun year, even without Carlos and that tumor of an agent of his.
Back to the point.... I can fault Drayton for a number of things, but losing Beltran ain't one of them.

I would not attempt to sign any player represented by the a$$h*le, Boras. And, I would trade anyone on my roster who had this guy representing him.
