to point out the inept way this team is run...cooper is obviously not the solution either..i thought he would be making changes right away or at least evaluating the younger guys..we already know what ausmus can do..nothing..same goes for 99% of the pitching staff...only lidge and oswalt would play elsewhere...the team has a lot of issues and they should sort them out now

Hembo... this isnt Coopers team. You cant judge squat based on 1 week. Cooper may or may not be a good manager. But the problems with the team arent really with the manager. Its with the front office.
Lots of players off this team would have different roles but would play on alot of teams.

Wow, it took 3 years but FINALLY AB sees there is a problem with front office, FINALLY.
It also took Hembo and me 3 years to TEACH our friend AB that Pujols in a league of his own and no comparison with Berkman.
Took 3 years for us to convince AB that Ensberg is not equal to Arod.

Hembo, is going to take us 3 years to convince AB that Vlad is better than Berkman. But, the dude is stubborn. Lately he is dishing Arroyo but, he forgot year 2006,2005 and 2004. Also forgot to mentinoned the good SECOND HALF. Then einstein says that i am talking about smalll samples and second half? again? ??//// Well dude, is just the OPPOSITE, you are making a statement with a FIRST HALF instead of 3 years and second half. And, for the year, in a hitters ballpark, he has a 1.40 whip. (Oswalt has a 1.33 whip) |

vlad has driven in 100 or more runs 9 out of the last 10 years...the one year he didnt he had 79 but was limited in playing time to 112 games
he has had 30 + homers 9 out of those 10 years
he has batted .300 10 out of those 10 years(and not just barely..like .320 or higher)
berkman has driven in 100 or more runs 4 out of the last 8 years
has hit 30 or more hr's 5 out of 8 years(that is if he can hit 1 more this year)
he has batted .300 or higher 3 times in 8 years
berkman hasnt beat him in 1 single category and we havent even talked about defense yet..is someone really going to make an argument about lance being his equal? LMAO
berkman is close in a few areas but not really in the overall scheme of things...he is not vlad guerrero

ya know..im not even sold on him being the best switch hitter..i like chipper jones better....no i havent looked at the stats and dont care...i think chipper has always been a great switch hitter...i wish i liked berkman better and i use to but this past year + has really turned me off...i think he b*tches and moans way too often and he really just isnt that good of a ball player(outside hitting) nobody here has proven otherwise...there are a ton of lance berkmans out there...how many times are we going to have this argument?
what makes him so good? you tell me....

Berkman is a great hitter but some people are UNABLE to understand that he is NOT a great PLAYER.
Bagwell was a great player.
Biggio WAS a great player.
Arod IS a great player.
Pujols is a great player.
Berkman is a GREAT HITTER.
Beltran is a great player.

No one said Berkman was better.
No one said Ensberg was ARod. ( go find the thread or shut up about it.)
No one said Berkman is better than Pujols.
But you guys act like Berkman is a nobody. Which just isnt true. He is in the same league as an elite player. Arod is on another planet right now. Pujols, Vlad and Berkman are all in the same paragraph when discussing todays great players.
Vlad has a better arm than Berkman, but he isnt Andru Jones or Jim Edmonds in the OF. You guys are off base if you think he is some elite defender. He has a great arm and is an average fielder.
What causes all these long drawn out flame wars is you 2 putting words in peoples mouths and blowing things our of proportion. So bad you forget what the original discussion was about.

its not that at all ab....remember a few months back we had a several day long feud over this same thing? i totally understand why the home town crowd likes berkman...totally understand..however, having said that let me say this, you would not be saying the same things and defending him if he were sent to boston(example) we would hear what a bad trade it was but not one time further would people argue for him being so great....you would suddenly be so attached to pence we would be comparing him and so and so...i know this to be fact about most here....I expect the hometown guys to rally around their players but theres a point it starts to look silly...berkman isnt even close to being vlad or arod when it comes right down to it....I took it easy on you...berkman cant hold those two's jocks...or beltrans, pujols or bagwells
ive watched you guys for 3 years now...beltran left and was immediately 'ok' nothing special about kent either....The spin kicks in more often times than not...people immediately started trashing pettite and clemens as well but were certainly smooching azz when they were here
