Chandler, you are reaching big time....
If he had thrown too many pitches, then the Astros damn sure shouldn't have pitched Patton that many innings.

Some guys pitch economically and can last longer because they're at 80-90 pitches in the 7th inning. Other guys are up to 100 pitches already after 5 innings.
What causes the damage to the arm/shoulder is not the number of innings, it's the pitches being thrown. One guy could pitch 200 innings but throw a LOT less pitches than another guy throwing 200 innings. Kerry Wood threw over 3000 pitches in 3 consecutive years and then his arm fell off. His IP wasn't anything special (averaged around 200 ip per year), but his pitches per IP was astronomical.
Simply trying to say "Patton is hurt because he threw 164 innings" is b.s. because that doesn't tell us what his 'workload' was. He's not hurt because he threw a lot of innings; he's hurt because he threw a lot of pitches. Am I picking nits here? Probably.

AGAIN, workload is INNINGS, not pitches, sorry, but thats the truth. He pitched a lot and i said that a looooooooooooong time ago, taht i was worried about that. Then what happens? ?/////// He is injured and can't finish the year because he had a big WORKLOAD. Hmmmmm Chandler, maybe is TIME you regognize i was right and the ORGANIZATION WAS WRONG.

AGAIN, workload is INNINGS, not pitches, sorry, but thats the truth. Says who? You? That's not necessarily the truth, that's just your view on things. If you don't realize the difference between having a lot of IP and throwing a lot of pitches (hint: the two things do NOT always mean the same thing), then I don't see any point in continuing to argue this with you.

workload is INNINGS, to say otherwise SHOWS lack of KNOWLEDGE about baseball.
I really expected much more from you.

Yeah, that's why they keep PITCH COUNTS and yank guys after so many pitches, regardless of how many INNINGS they've pitched ...... jeesh, that's just basic modern age baseball, dude, what are you arguing about???

Again, says who?
One guy could throw 80 pitches in 8 innings, another could throw 120 in 6 innings. Who had the tougher workload that day? It's the act of pitching a baseball that damages the arm, not the act of walking out on the mound. To argue otherwise reflects a serious deficiency in knowledge of the game in general and in pitching specifically.

Pettitte pitches ANOTHER good game (i remember someone said that he was going to be injured this year), yankees are 1 game out of first place ( i remember someone said this team was BAD and would not compete this year) and boston continues to struggle. Which event is more interesting, IF Yankees are going to finish first over the Red Sox or IF the Asstros will finish LAST behind the Pirates. Did Pettitte and Clemens made the RIGHT CHOICE? ?/////
