I can't find too many changes this team has made under Cecil Cooper. Some of them still loaf on the field, look dumb at the plate, etc. Nobody has bothered to try to teach the young players how to run the bases as evidenced by that dumb move that Pence pulled last night that probably cost us at least one run. Cooper reminded me of Garner when he pulled that bone-head stunt of pitching to the 8th place hitter with a runner on third and two out when he should have ordered the intentional walk and pitched to the pitcher. Because Cooper wanted Hill to lead off the next inning, he allowed Albers to pitch to Theriot and let him drive in what proved to be the winning run. I'm still waiting for these "changes" that Drayton said were necessary. Of course, he didn't mean benching Biggio and playing for the future even though Biggio basically looks pitiful at the plate. They mentioned on the telecast last night that Cooper wanted to hire a guy like Davey Lopes or Rickey Henderson to be on the coaching staff to teach baserunning. That can't happen too soon. It needs to be mandatory for guys like Berkman to attend every session.

It would probably help if they would fine these guys a couple of thousand each and every time that they jog to first or walk to or from their poitions. They should be hustling on every play or every hit. I have seen SOFTBALL players that have more of a passion than these lame-o-pros. I have been watching a few Indians games here and there over the last month. The players on that TEAM have a clue about the way the game is supposed to be played. It is a damned shame that the Lastros players cannot be more like the Indians. I hope that Cleveland goes deep in the playoffs. And for me to make that statement means something as I despise EVERY other team in Ohio.
