Like I said, Astros were going to finish closer to last than first and that Cubbies would win the division.
Well, I WAS WRONG, I did not think astros would finish LAST, but they are playing like a last place team and we hava an old guy playing and a young guy PINCH HITTING.

Draytie must bleed the last dollar possible from the fans by playing Biggio at the expense of playing younger guys who will be here next season. This is the mind set of a loser who hasn't a clue about winning. Good luck to the sucker he names as GM.

Yea...because that winning record he has as an owner really sucks.
Just the 3rd best in all of baseball since Drayton has owned the team. PLease lets not let facts get in the way of a good ball busting though.

vega51, you really must have a mean spirt or something all you can do is hate a ballplayer who gives his all, yet love the ones who seem to go about their business. When the last time you have any thing good to say about the team. All other teams seem to be the only ones that do anything right in your eyes. Lets take Pence and his comments last night this after setting a record setting Double for a rookie for Houston "I got to give credit to (Craig) Biggio actually," Pence said. "(Wednesday) I hit a semi pop fly and got kind of lackadaisical. I kind of ran 75 percent, not 100 percent, and if he dropped it I wouldn't have gotten to second.
"(Biggio) got on to me and he said, 'If I ever see you do that again — that's not the way you play — me and you are going to have problems.' It just woke me up. I said 'You know what, that's right.' I hit that pop fly and that's exactly what I thought of. It just so happens it fell in. Those are the kinds of things Craig Biggio does for the team."
When your boy Berkman or Burke ever done something like that, all Berkman does is whine and Bure cries. This team want have someone of any where near Biggio's leadership next year.

Sorry folks, but do you really believe that Biggio actually gives a sh*t? No he doesn't. He won't be here next year. If he really cared he would have been pissed off all year instead of getting mad now when it doesn't matter. For all that said, when have you EVER seen him get mad and slam a few coolers around the dugout or call someone out for not performing up to expectations? I cannot remember one time. If anybody has, please let me know and I will acknowledge it.

Just because someone's not slamming coolers around and acting like a fool in public, that doesn't mean that they're not happy about something.
As far as calling someone out, it appears from that quote above you that he did just that to Pence. Did you want him to do it in the press? If so, I call balderdash. Team matters should stay internal, not blasted on the airwaves.

Maybe Berkman will remember the part about "keeping it internal" the next time he whines to the press about someone being sent down.

Personally I don't care if it should be "kept internal". I am not saying that he should lose it every day but sometimes it would be nice to see a little temper tantrum from a "supposed" team leader. It would at least show that they cared. I can't see that they care about anything except their ridiculous salary.

No thanks. I don't want my players to act like babies and throw tantrums, especially not in public and NEVER to the media.
You must have not been watching Biggio over the course of his career if you can't tell that he cares about the game and about winning. Berkman wasn't whining, he was standing up for a teammate, but you're right, he should have kept that internal.

Isn't it great that we paid Berkman $14 million to do what he has done this season? We are paying Woody $12.5 million for two years of what we saw last night........4 homers allowed!! He is the major league leader in allowing home runs and he's all ours.........isn't that great??

Why not? If a player deserves to be called out, call a spade a spade. That is the Astros main problem. They have too many nice guys.
Now let's make sure we understand each other: I do NOT want some jackass that is getting in trouble off the field, getting DUI's and stuff like that. I want a guy who take a loss personally and then goes out the next day and gives 110% trying to win. I want a player that gets mad and call his teammates out when they are under performing and not giving 110% on every play or at every at bat.
I don't understand why no one want players with an attitude on this team. Granted if you have too many it can wreck the team, but maybe if we had one, it would galvanize the team and give them a winning attitude.

Why not? If a player deserves to be called out, call a spade a spade. You're misunderstanding me. If a player needs to be called out, then you do it, but you do it in the dugout/clubhouse/etc. You don't go to the media to call out a teammate. That's bush league. You don't air your dirty laundry out in the media. You honestly believe these guys don't? The quote from Pence earlier in this thread proves that Biggio is that player. I don't understand why you think that 'no one wants players with an attitude'.

yes, i honestly do believe the team veterans dont give a sh*t...Its obvious berkman doesnt care. Roy either...Roy cares about pitching well ,but he has never had an intensity like biggio or bagwell...He is the same regardless of how he just pitched...whether its 1 run or 7 runs he doesnt seem fazed....

btw...outside those ridiculous additions we got in the off season three things summed up this year..This is what killed the astros
1.mcclane put biggio and gate proceeds above winning 2. The loss of pettite and clemens .3 the number one issue though is, yup, everybodys boy lance berkman and his lack of doing anything useful until now...makes no difference that he is hitting now because its about 3 months too late..

I'd wager money that you're dead wrong.
Why is that a *bad* thing?
