" had to dumb for salary" ? 03.. You really need to step back, take a deep breath and listen.. How many people do the Marlins draw in attendance? How much money does that franchise make? You keep trying to act like the Marlins and Astros are equals. They arent. The Astros make more money. A $68 million payroll in 2003 to them is a TON. The Marlins owner isnt going to spend that kind of money year in and year out.

Florida didn't buy a title in 2003..most of the guys had either been career Marlins or had been on the team prior to 2003. The only significant FA addition was Pudge.

Ab's logic is unique for sure.... Astros sure looked like a hell of a second best team for 8 years or so...they may not have won anything or gone past the first round of a playoff but man are they ever the best second place team around

its just amazing that no matter what some Fans think their team is always right. Always accepting 2 or third place and a couple playoffs appearances and a chance is funny. Hell every year a team has a chance but you know after the Pirates series in the first week and the Astros lost four straight you knew it wasn't your year. Astros started in 1961 one WS appearance and that happened a couple years ago. Marlins started in 1992 and have TWO WS Ring and yep I will take the Astros record because its about having a chance, GOT TO DO SOMETHING WITH THE CHANCE. So what I been to a couple playoffs this team in almost 50 years still doesn't have a championship.

thanks Chandler, thats what our friend who never thinks the Astros do any wrong. He said they bought it and then had to dump salary. Maybe the South Florida area can't support a winning team but I wonder if they had kept the team in tact would they have increased attendance the following year. I think the South Florida area knew what kind of owner they had and knew they would be Screwed again by a sell off. If the Astros had won a WS ring in 97 when the Marlins won their first one, with an owner and the Support from the Astros fans, that team would probably won a couple more as the Astros owner wouldn't have sold off the team then and again in 03. Their was no reason to sell off a winning team, Too many owners do that year after year. I believe it has something to do with needing a business that loses money to offset the Millions they make on their real business

on another note astrobuddy as far as keeping a team intact. McLane kept the 05 WS apperance team in tact but they suck in the WS couldn't hit and relief gave it up. So now two years latter with a suck ass team are the worse team in baseball and even the lowly Marlins will finish with a better record and by the way they have a lot better players now than the Astros in almost every position, we Have Berkman and Lee and hopefully Pence and the rest are crap players.

same ole AB...he always says he gets it, but is so far away from getting it that he doesnt even know what getting it is,,,,when you show he is wrong, he just changes the argument...attendence!!!!!...say what?...how anyone could , with a straight face ,say we are better off than the marlins is beyond me...we have a last place team....and a farm system in shambles....it is true we will outdraw the marlins, but that only makes it worse....we ought to be better.

The big question is who will be Draytie's next cash cow once Biggio is gone. He turned this season into Biggio's chase for 3,000 hits, sell all the Biggio merchandise possible, and ignored how horrible the Astros are as a team. What next? A Biggio and Bagwell bobblhead night every two weeks next season? How about selling spaces on their statues so fans can write "thanks for the memories" messages to the two icons? After all, they helped put all of those Division Champions banners on the outfield wall. Who gives a crap that we never won the WS and the year we finally got there was when Bagwell didn't play for most of the season. Both of these guys were good players but never won a WS and nearly always went belly up in the playoffs and then made the same lame excuses for theirs and the teams' failures. I wonder who takes Biggio's place giving those same lame interviews about how "we try our hardest and will come out again tomorrow and try again, blah, blah, blah? I'm really going to miss hearing that same BS on a weekly basis.
