I'm rooting for the Stones to go as far as possible. Reason: I want to see a snow-out. I want the WS to be delayed until spring thaw. I want to see athletes ripping sinews in 20 degree weather so baseball will see the stupidity of playing the very essence of the sport in "prime time". With Cleveland, NY, Boston, Philly, Chicago and Denver in the mix, a timely cold snap might keep the post-season going until Thanksgiving. As it is, I think a 7 game WS would be scheduled to end on Nov. 1.
Another thing, everyone seems to go apesnot over qualifying for the post-season. Yet, year after year, the TV ratings get worse and worse. The Astros/Chisux WS had the worst ratings, only to be beaten last year by the Cruds/Tigers. I doubt I'd walk across the street to watch a pitch of a Cleveland/Arizona WS. Yankees/Cubs would be a blockbuster. Look for MLB to rig it so that will happen. It would cost them tens of millions if it didn't.

I for one could give a sh*t how much money the Networks make off the WS. MLB has already been paid so actually they dont care either. The only money to be made is by the TV network that shows the game on the airwaves I gave them for free to use. So I really dont give a sh*t and nobody else should either. If you team is in the WS, enjoy. f**k the TV ratings. They will show the game anyway. No one needs to worry about that.

Future years contracts are based on them.

As far as the networks go, the WS has been in decline for awhile...baseball in general has been suffering since the last strike. But ALL sports are receiving less shares than 10 years ago. Many more channells and the internet could be to blame.
Last Year's WS game Five - 10.0 (Lowest ever) 2006 NBA Finals Miami Heat’s six-game win over the Dallas Mavericks - averaged an 8.5 2006 Carolina Hurricanes’ 4-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in June’s Stanley Cup finals, averaged a 2.3

Can you imagine the horror in the NFL if(Big if and wishful thinking) say the Texans and the Lions made it to the Super Bowl? My God, they would be driven wild! It would be hilarious! ;D
