I agree that Cuban is a nut but do you all remember how pathetic the Mavericks were when he bought them? He spent the money to turn them around. He would spend more than Draytie to get a championship.

You dont know that. He would spend the money the team earns. Do you think Steinbrenner spends what he spends and goes into debt to do it ? Nope... he spends what the team earns within reason.
I think you would all be surprisedhow little he would spend. Plus he will be an embarrasment to someone if he is allowed to buy a team.

i can almost guarantee he would field a championship team...This team hasnt NOt sold ou ta home game in forever...Its a ton of money for a cubs owner...his stocking the team could make owners worry also..this guy would compete with steinbrenenr on payroll

I doubt it. Steinbrenner doesn't spend $200M+ on payroll because he's a rich guy; he spends that much because he makes that much or even more on that team. Cuban wouldn't have the luxury of having YES feeding him tons and tons of money like Steinbrenner does.

WGn carries the cubs..are you telling me the tribune doesnt make money hand over fist? Ive seen every NL team(minus the rockies and marlins) at wrigley and its one of the absolute best places to possibly be at...I have always hated the cubs but loved the games as its fun as hell.... these guys make a ton of money and payroll is usually paid before the season begins..i disgaree with your assessment chandler

The Cubs don't own WGN, so it's nowhere near the same situation with the two. I'm sure Tribune does make money, not even sure why you would think that's what I'm saying, but it's not the same situation as with the Yanks & YES. How do you think the Yanks are able to spend so much? Baseball RevenuesCompare NY's revenue to the Cub's - $302M as opposed to $197M. It shows NY as being in the red, but that's before their YES money is taken into account. |

You actually think that if the team only makes $110 million or so Cuban will spend $ 200 million a year on payroll? Aint happening. He would go broke doing that. No owner will do that. Drayton Mclane could buy George Stienbrenner twice over. These guys spend what the team makes. They dont spend their own money.
Which team has not had a home game sell out in forever??
JB.. he did a good job with the Mavericks, but they dont have a Championship. They are perinnial chokers in the playoffs. The exact thing you accuse the Astros of being. But Cuban spends what the Mavs bring in. He doesnt go spending his own money.

Chandler, Cuban has the money and hates losing, plus, he signs a lot of people ot make basketball decisions for the good of the team and organization meaning, he will spend money but smart money because baseball guys would be making the decision ON WINNING.
Example, those guys would tell Cuban, look, Biggio can get his 3,000 but as a bench player. Instead of getting 500 at bats he should get 250 to 300 at bats for the next 5 years. Instead of 3 years he will do it in 5 but we will develop our young guy who is BETTER RIGHT NOW or bring a FA to WIN GAMES.

I would quit watching the Astros if Cuban bought the team. He's a f**ken egotistical nut that has to be a part of the show. He'd have our team thought of as a bunch of whining tittybabies like the Mavs are. That team and that city or still whining about getting beat by the Heat and it starts with that douchebag Cuban's bellyaching.
Cuban doesn't alway spend his money wisely. If he did, he wouldn't have let Nash go. Don Nelson wanted out because Cuban is a meddler and because of Cuban's decision to let an MVP talent go for nothing. Cuban does not hire basketball people and let them make decisions. Cuban is a micromanager.
