If not the best in a while he was certainly close. Regardless of Bobby Cox this guy made the Braves the team they were. Not only that i think he got the Royals into the playoffs a few times... he is widely credited as having a eye for raw talent..i dont know if thats true but thats what they say...i do know i can say the above based on their track record....i know a few will do whatever is necessary to discredit that statement but still....Its fact atlanta sucked before he got there....Its also true KC was never good again once he left...you make the call

I agree with you. He has been a great GM. He will be a good President. I would have loved to have him. He is 67 years old and I am sure he wants a rest although he has incinuated that he is leaving the GM spot because of Scott Boras. With Mark Texieria being a Borass client it isnt a stretch that what is best for the Braves isnt what John would be able to do because he has stated he would never again sit at a table with Scott Boras.

I imagine his team talks with these players on a normal basis. Agents dont have guaranteed contracts. They can be fired overnite. Not talking to his players would be a BAD thing.
Sure they are douchebags hembo... its their job.
